Callaway’s Supercharged Vette

Supercharged Callaway CorvetteThe standard 6.2L V8 Corvette has recently seen an upgrade courtesy of Callaway Cars. Now in business for 20 years, this company specializes in creating “commercial value by providing driving enthusiasts with maximum satisfaction”. The new kit, available on the 2009 Corvettes, boosts the vehicle’s horsepower to 580hp. This amount of pure horsepower allows the vehicle to reach high speeds of up to 200 miles per hour!

The LS3 V8 Corvette even witnessed tremendous output with the addition of Callaway’s supercharged package. The vehicle was able to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in only 3.5 seconds. Better yet, the vehicle was able to make it across the quarter mile in only 11.2 seconds time, flying at speeds up to 124 miles per hour. Incredible!

For this $18,900 supercharge package, Callaway aims to improve the vehicle, while also improving overall customer satisfaction. Would you be willing to pay for this luxury for your ‘Vette? With constant improvements, there’s no doubt that this company will keep progressing forward. In fact, just recently they were able to open shop in Corona, California.

C5/Z06 Corvette Wheel Alignment Specs – Drag Racing

These numbers are strictly for DRAG racing

FRONT
Camber: -.25 each
Toe: +.05 each
Caster: ? any suggestions?

REAR
Camber: 0
Toe: +.05

My goal is maximum straight line speed without making the car unstable if I need lateral stability to correct.
Do you guys see any issues with lateral stability on the drag strip. Sometimes we get out of the groove and need that lateral stability to steer back in/ keep the car straight. Just not sure how these slight changes alter the cars straight line performance.

Also, the theory of the +toe is because as the car squats, I was told it creates more – camber and -toe thus having it slightly + will allow the contact patch of tires to be greater on the LAUNCH.

Greater negative camber helps increase the tire contact patch in aggressive cornering situations.

2010 Corvette Facts

So, what do we really know about the 2010 Corvette?

The 2010 Corvette will be another C6, with likely the same four models to be offered: Coupe, Convertible, Z06, and ZR1.  Also keep in mind, though, that Vette, "America’s Favorite Corvette Magazine," stated in a blog back on January 21, that "industry sources" were indicating that Chevrolet would announce a 2010 Grand Sport at the new model preview in April!  That would make five exciting models!

We are still hoping to see the C7 no later than the 2012 Model Year, but that is less sure now than before.

It is expected that the powertrains will not change for 2010, and that there will be no new technologies being inaugurated on the 2010.  A Grand Sport might change all that.

In regard to color, we know that Victory Red Metallic is gone, but since Red has a long and fabled history with Corvette, there will have to be a new Red for the year.

Dealers discover their allocations on May 20, will be allowed to order on May 21, and hope to have complete ordering information soon.  The first day of production is scheduled to be June 22.

We will report additional information as it becomes available, perhaps after that April preview.

Weekly Corvette Ordering Constraints

As always, we at CorvetteBlog have the latest constraint information straight from General Motors.

  • 2009 Corvettes:  There are 4 constraints to report.  First 425 Linen Custom Leather Interior has been discontinued, so that constraint will exist until build-out.  Second, CSC the Competition Sport Package will be constrained until build starts less than 4 weeks from now.  Third, 74U Victory Red is now built out, so no additional Corvette orders will be taken with that exterior color.  Finally, the GT1 Championship Edition is now showing greater than 4 weeks until we can order it.

  • 2009 Corvette Z06:  There are the same 4 constraints to report.  First 425 Linen Custom Leather Interior is discontinued, so that constraint will exist until build-out as well.

  • 2009 Corvette ZR1:  The only 2 constraints are the 425 Linen Custom Leather interior and 74U the Victory Red exterior, which are both no longer available for ordering.

If you’re looking to order a new 2009 Corvette or Z06, we have allocation available this week, custom order yours now!  Let us know by leaving a comment (kept private) or by giving us a call at (888) 875-0728.  Join the many other satisfied CorvetteBlog customers and see how easy it is to do business with us.
