[ACCIDENTS] 1978 Corvette Pace Car vs Semi Truck

[ACCIDENTS] 1978 Corvette Pace Car vs Semi Truck

This modified Corvette may or may not be one of the 6,502 original Indy 500 Pace Car replicas built in 1978, but it certainly took the brunt when rear ended by a semi truck in Boise, Idaho.

The collision of truck vs Corvette happened last week on I-85 East about nine miles from the Idaho-Oregon border.

With the chrome air breather sticking out the hood and the roll bar installed, you would think this Corvette was built for speed. Instead, Idaho State Police say the Corvette was traveling under the posted speed limit when it was rear ended and forced off the road.

Two occupants in the Corvette were transported to a hospital in Boise where they were treated and released.

[POLL] What's The First Aftermarket Purchase You Would Make for a New Corvette?

As we prepare to head out this afternoon for our trip to SEMA, we thought we’d take a quick poll on aftermarket purchases from our readers. The question has to do with new Corvettes and we’d like to know what your first aftermarket purchase would be. The poll is open to everyone (whether or not you have or will be buying a new Corvette in the near future).

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post’s poll.

While we’re in SEMA, keep a constant eye on our Twitter and Facebook pages for live updates and many, many photos.

Over 100 Salvage Corvettes Heading to the Auction Block

Over 100 Salvage Corvettes Heading to the Auction Block

If your looking for a project C3 or C4 Corvette, check out this auction of over 100 salvage Corvettes that will be sold on Saturday in Forest City, North Carolina. Whittington Auction and Appraisal is handling the gavel duties for this collection of mostly insurance salvage Corvettes and parts. The sale is actually the first of two auctions with the second part dealing with thousands of used original Corvette parts.

The Corvettes range from 1968 to 1990 and have been stored in a dry warehouse. While many of the insurance salvage cars are in pieces, we noted several Corvettes that still retain their engines. Frames and birdcages also seem to be in abundant supply.

The collection of C3 and C4 salvage Corvettes is owned by none other than Charlie Brown and he has decided to focus his attention in other business ventures. Therefore, this is an absolute auction were everything must go. All the Corvettes were inspected by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles and the cars will be sold on bill of sale only.

“Charlie Brown is devoting his time and efforts to other business ventures and has commissioned us to sell over 100 salvage Corvettes at absolute auction,” explained Whittington. “That means that these salvage Corvettes and parts will sell to the highest bidder.”

Later this month on November 18 and 19, the second auction consisting of thousands of original parts for 1956-1990 Corvettes will be held in Columbus, NC. Details of the sales can be found at www.WhittingtonAuction.com

[VIDEO] Cardinal's World Series MVP David Freese Awarded Keys to 2012 Corvette Grand Sport

Congratulations to the St. Louis Cardinals and their MVP 3rd baseman David Freese. Freese hit .348 during the series with a home run and seven RBIs and the three runs he drove in during Game 6 kept the Cards alive to go all the way. As the series Most Valuable Player, Chevrolet awarded him a 2012 Corvette Centennial Edition Grand Sport.

Chris Perry, Chevrolet’s Global Marketing and Strategy VP had the honor of presenting Feese the key fob to the Carbon Flash Metallic Corvette Grand Sport. Chevy is also donating a home field make-over to a St. Louis area little league field as well.

[VIDEO] European Vacation Corvette Style

[VIDEO] European Vacation Corvette Style' Tribute

We received an email from a Corvette owner living in England this week who wanted to share his appreciation of Corvettes with those of us living in the States. Brian and his wife Angie joined two other couples for a European road trip through France, Germany and Switzerland. Some of prettiest scenery on Earth looks even better behind the wheel of a Corvette.

Here was his message:

Hi CorvetteBlogger!

I’m a Corvette owner living in England and thought you might like to know that some of us over here in Blighty appreciate the ‘vette as much as you do on your side of the pond.

We wondered if you might be interested in what we get up to with our cars, so put this video together of a roadtrip that we took last year through France, Germany & Switzerland – me and my wife and two other couples also in their beloved ‘vettes!

Hope you like,

Brian & Angie

We very much appreciate you sharing this experience with us. The abandoned racetrack at Reims is amazing to see and the drive through the alps must have been one of the highlights on a trip full of highlights. Thanks again for your email Brian and keep driving those ‘Vettes!

Do you have Corvette experience you would like to share? Use the contact form at the bottom of this page and let us know. You just might see your Corvette on CorvetteBlogger.com!
