AOL is speculating today that GM, as in Government Motors, may kill off the Corvette!
CorvetteBlog would see that as a serious concern for Corvette enthusiasts the world over. However, at this point, there is nothing official from Chevrolet that Corvette will have to go.
With its excellent gas mileage numbers, the Corvette‘s fuel economy may actually be what saves it.

I was able to get some quality “alone” time with this new 2010 Corvette Grand Sport Convertible. This car is VIN #5 and was built the week of the April 20th. The Corvette features a Cyber Gray exterior with the new chrome Grand Sport wheels. This GS doesn’t have the Z15 RPO Heritage Package which includes the fender hash mark graphics and embroiderd “Grand Sport” on the seats. Instead it has the new 0B1 Crossed Flags headrest embroidery. The battle between Noriyuki Haga and Ben Spies continued in Japan as the two riders each won one of two races over the weekend. Haga extended his points lead significantly after Spies high sided in race two. Spies trails Haga by 60 points going into Monza.

With this type of transformation, why not add the extra few thousands to cover the upgraded engine’s cost? I certainly would… that is if I had the monetary means to do so!
