Both Corvettes were first out the gate in the qualifying session for tomorrow’s Mobil 1 Grand Prix of Mosport. Oliver Gavin and the #4 Corvette C6.R’s time of 1:17.959 was 4th best in class while teammate Johnny O’Connell and the #3 Corvette ran a fastest lap of 1:18.309 to finish 5th. BMW of holds the top two positions finishing 1:17.528 and 1:17.657. Just -0.781 separates the top 5 positions.

The two-hour, 45-minute race is scheduled to start at 3:05 p.m. EDT on Sunday, August 30th. SPEED will televise the race live at 3 p.m. EDT.

Workers at the Corvette Plant are back along the assembly line this week after being on furlough for much of the summer.

FOX41-TV talks with Corvette Assembly Plant workers in Bowling Green about the recent furloughs and what its like to be back at work building America’s Sports Car. In the background, you’ll see a Torch Red Corvette and the new Grand Sport being assembled while the reporter talks with employees.

In celebration of the National Corvette Museum’s 15th anniversary, the museum is raffling off an Artic White Corvette Grand Sport… Not just an ordinary Corvette either.

The Grand Sport painted in all white with a red-stripped, black hood will showcase Corvette Racing’s mascot, Jack. In honor of this memorable raffle prize, the museum has also added the NCM official logo to the car’s B-pillar.

With a six speed manual transmission, the vehicle also comes equipped with dual mode exhaust as well as a ZR1 rear spoiler. “You can summarize the car this way,” Tadge Juechter, Chief Engineer of the Corvette said, “Zero to sixty in four seconds; 26 miles a gallon.”

Since each raffle ticket costs a pretty penny ($150 each), the NCM has decided to only offer out 2,009 raffle tickets in total, giving participants a good chance of winning. Even if you don’t take home the collector’s Corvette Grand Sport, second place winner receives $10,000 and third place will win $5,000. Not to bad if you ask me!
