Dave McLellan took over as Corvette chief engineer from Zora Arkus-Duntov. Dave McLellan, who presided as chief engineer for the fourth-generation Chevrolet Corvette, will be a featured guest at parts-seller Mid America Motorworks’ annual Corvette Funfest in September.

The Mecum in Monterey auction was held on Saturday and over 200 cars were featured including 25 Corvettes. Despite the nice mix of unique and important cars in Corvette history, most failed to reach the reserve price and went unsold. Just 8 of the 25 Corvettes did sell for a total take of $651,000 and a 32% sales success rate. Two Corvettes topped the $100,000 mark with the top seller being the 1967 “Ed Cole” L89 Corvette Coupe which we’ve named our Deal of the Year. Second on the list was a 1969 L88 Corvette Coupe that sold for $150,000. [More]
