If something doesn’t quite look right with this 1963 Corvette Coupe, you get a gold star! That’s because this was a prototype for a “four place” Corvette. That’s right, a Corvette with back seats! National Corvette Museum Aims to Add-on

Plans to add a Motorsports park to Bowling Green’s National Corvette Museum are in the beginning stages. The museum has already begun purchasing surrounding land to make this park become a reality. Of the 300 acres needed, 70 acres have been purchased by the museum.

The proposed park will include a quarter-mile drag strip, 2.5-mile course, 10-acre autocross diagonal skid pad, paddock, control tower, go-cart track, as well as restroom facilities.

Wendell Storde, executive director of the museum, says this park could potentially bring 100,000+ visitors to Bowling Green annually. Many in the community are enthused about this new park and its potential to attract visitors to the area.

Fundraising and sponsorship initiatives are just beginning, though the museum did raise $177,000 from last year’s 15th anniversary celebration. The museum plans to privately raise $25 million for the park to come to fore wishing.

Museum officials hope to begin construction on the park come 2011.
