Lots of Corvette lovers love Camaro, too, so every now and then, we just have to mention big news on Camaro. Today is the opening day for the movie, Transformers 3.
No automobile is more prominent in the Transformers movie franchise than Camaro, and this movie is no exception. Dealers will be able to order these sweet Bumblebee Camaros later this week, and the cars will start showing up in dealer showrooms this September.
The 2012 Transformers Special Edition Camaro starts out as either a Camaro 2LS or 2SS with the RS Appearance Package. Cough up another $3,000 and you get not only Bumblebee’s exterior color scheme but a special rear spoiler, black-out 20-inch alloy wheels with Autobot logo center caps, and fender-mounted Autobot badges.

Visitors to Bloomington Gold’s Great Hall this year were immediately greeted by barn fresh and very rare 1957 fuel injected Corvette recently rescued from years of storage before reaching the main display area. The car was presented with all the dirt, dust, and debris still present on it. The Bloomington Gold folks were taking a survey to learn the public’s opinion on what to do with the car. To help out, take the survey after the jump and we’ll forward on the results.

As for our opinion, We think it should just be cleaned up and used as a learning tool for restorers and enthusiasts. Let us know what you think should be done with it by leaving a comment below.
Last weekend Bloomington Gold officially inducted their 2011 Great Hall honorees during their 39th annual event. The people being recognized ranged from racers to collectors to restorers. The 10 cars being saluted covered Corvette racing, styling, and high end performance.
The Great Hall is in its 2nd year of its intended 5 year run and in that span it will honor just 50 cars and 50 people who have helped shape the Corvette hobby. The event was highlighted by the reunion of Corvette racing legend Tony Delorenzo with his original 1967 L88 racer. The car is believed to be the first production L88 Corvette and was sold at Mecum’s Monterey auction last year for a cool $1.25 million. It was recently returned to its 1967 racing livery.
Chevy put out this brief preview of the Autobots that are featured in the next installment of the Transformers movie franchise. Sideswipe, the autobot that reverts to the Stingray Corvette concept is featured prominently in the preview.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon opens nationwide on Wednesday, June 29, 2011.
Whether it involves building your Corvette’s engine, or registering for Corvette-specific race classes, being a Corvette owner entitles one to various deals and special offerings that are not common, by any means.
Recently, Chevrolet introduced a new incentive for buyers who order their Corvette. Owners can now choose their own personalized VIN number!
The new program, entitled RPO: PIN, comes at a fee of $5,000, and connects the purchaser with a Corvette concierge to coordinate this special order. The concierge then determines whether the request may be granted. Note, the VIN number must not fall out of natural assignment, meaning one cannot order out of sequence.
Dealers nationwide have already started promoting this new program. If you have questions about it, feel free to give us a call.
We finally had a chance to check out the new 2012 color, Carlisle Blue, in person last weekend at the Bloomington Gold show. This was on the same car which we spotted on Lance Miller’s Facebook page. A constant stream of people surrounded the new Grand Sport convertible and its 2012 stable mates in the GM booth most of the weekend. Click past the jump to see more of Corvette’s newest shade of blue.
We’ve now seen this new hue in varying shades of sunlight as well as with both the gray and polished wheels now. We think this going to be a love it or hate color. The color looks great in bright sunlight on cars with polished wheels. And when exposed to direct sun, the color takes on a cool, almost silverish tint. When fitted with the competition gray wheels the color seems to loose some of its visual appeal.
The 2012 Grand Sport convertible at Bloomington Gold featured a blue top, polished wheels, and two-tone cashmere and ebony interior. The new color definitely looks good when it’s accompanied by the new blue top. Carlisle Blue is a great color, but just like anything else it’ll have its supporters and detractors. Check out our photos from Bloomington Gold and then let us know what you think of Carlisle Blue.

If the first-generation Corvette in this marvelous PR photo doesn’t give you a clue about when it was taken, certainly the suits and hats drive home the early-to-mid-’50s timeframe.
