Let’s say you’re the largest U.S. automaker, and you have a little problem. You’re building cars that get good reviews for features, fit, finish, and fuel economy, but half the world still thinks you build lousy cars like you used to, and the other half shuns you as “Government Motors” due to a little bankruptcy problem you had.
Black Corvette Collection To Be Sold At Mecum’s Bloomington Gold Auction
Mecum will be holding their annual Bloomington Gold auction this Friday and Saturday at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles IL. Over 400 Corvettes are expected to cross the block during the two day affair including a unique 23-car collection comprised entirely of Black Corvettes ranging from 1954-1969 which will be offered at no-reserve.
The collection was assembled by Bill Mullis of Ashville, North Carolina. According to a documentary by Michael Brown Productions, Bill started with a couple of Black Corvettes and realizing that the black cars are much harder to find, he continued to add only the best examples available.
Mullis’ Black Corvette collection features at least one Corvette from 1954-1969, representing every year that Black was available from the factory. In addition to being Black, many of these Corvettes have the engine options that most collectors desire: big blocks, fuelies and high performance V8s. The Corvette featured in the above picture is an early 1966 Corvette Coupe with a 427/450 hp V8 and the 36 gallon fuel tank.
Here is a list of cars that comprise the Mullis Black Corvette Collection:

[PICS] Corvettes at Tampa Bay’s Cars and Coffee
Here are some photos of cool Corvettes that were in attendance at the Cars and Coffee gathering in St. Petersburg, Florida at the home of the DuPont Registry. For kicks, I also threw in a few non-Corvette photos as well.
One of my favorites was this dirty C5 Z06 “Hybrid” that is fresh off the 2011 Hot Rod Power Tour. The car is dirty for good reason. In nine days, this Z06 traveled to eight states racking up 2,800 miles. The kicker is the Corvette averaged 24 mpg during the trip.
This was the 6th anniversary for the Cars and Coffee event in Tampa Bay and the DuPont Registry passed out cool pins to all the cars that were in attendance. You can see more photos of the event on facebook.

Happy Fathers Day!
My love of Corvettes is directly attributable to my dad and so I wanted to give a shout out to all that dads out there that are passing on their passion for Corvettes to their children. Not only are you giving them an appreciation for the greatest sports car ever made, the moments you spend with your children in Corvette-centered activities will leave an indelible mark on them for the rest of their lives.
Happy Fathers Day from your friends at CorvetteBlogger.com!

Common Misconceptions on the NCM Insurance Agency
Article contributed by Adam Boca/NCM Insurance Agency
The past 3 years of the NCM Insurance Agency have been an amazing time! We now insure nearly 50 million dollars worth of Collector Vehicles and have tripled our business in the last year alone! We are a rapidly growing insurance agency that is making a ton of buzz in the industry. We could not be growing as much as we have been without our current customers spreading the word about what we do. We cannot thank you enough!
The NCM Insurance Agency has attended many shows over the last 3 years and talked with thousands of people on the phone. Every once in a while we will hear things like “I have a new Corvette†or “where are you actually locatedâ€, etc. We would like to take this opportunity to share the answers to our frequently asked questions.
“We have a new Corvette, you won’t insure that.â€
Collector Car Insurance does not mean Classic Car Insurance, and the majority of the cars we insure are newer Corvettes, 1997-current. There are limitations on usage to qualify for Collector Car Insurance – cars cannot be used for daily use such as going to the grocery store, mall, Dr’s office, golf course, etc. If you use your Corvette or any other collector car for the occasional pleasure trip, club events, car shows, parades then you may qualify. We have several mileage options to choose from as well from 1K, 3K and 6K miles.
“Where are you actually located?â€
We are based out of and operated by the National Corvette Museum. Our agent, Adam Boca, is a employee of the National Corvette Museum. 100% of the commission goes to directly support and further the mission of the NCM. We are not an agency or a company that the NCM endorses, we ARE the NCM.
“I have other collector cars and you only insure Corvettesâ€
While the business of the National Corvette Museum is Corvettes, the NCM Insurance Agency insures many other cars besides Corvettes. If you have multiple collector cars or corvettes we have some of the best rates when it comes to collections. We would love to have the opportunity to quote your street rod, muscle car, Corvette, exotic cars, kit car, vintage motorcycles, collection, etc. Give us a shot, and let’s see if we can save you money and offer you the best customer service available.
We hope that this helps answer questions on what we have to offer. No matter the type or year of collector vehicle we would love to have the opportunity to provide a quote for you. Please check out our website at www.ncminsurance.com or give us a call at 877.678.7626.
