If you live up in Northwest Washington State, be on the lookout for a Nassau Blue 1965 Corvette Coupe and an all-original 1970 Chevelle SS that were stolen from a warehouse in Puyallup, south of Seattle. The two classic cars were owned by Gary Tucci and were stolen sometime last Wednesday night.

Tucci says the two cars were valued at more than $150,000 each. The Corvette was purchased last year at a Barrett-Jackson collector car auction for $115,500. The Chevelle was purchased three years ago from a private collector in Arizona.

“I want to get my babies back,” said owner Gary Tucci. “They’re very high-end… I mean, they were perfect. They were tough to lose.”

The method of entry into the warehouse is interesting to say the least.

Tucci says that sometime on Wednesday, his neighbor admits to accidently crashing his truck into the wall of the warehouse, creating a hole. After the neighbor left the scene, Police believe that one or more individuals climbed through the hole, found the key box and simply drove the cars out the garage door.

A $6,000 reward is being offered by Crimestoppers for information leading to the arrest and charges against the suspects. Please call 253-591-5959 if you have any details.

Each year on the Wednesday before the annual Woodward Dream Cruise Corvette enthusiasts gather to support the Open Hands Food Pantry in Royal Oak, MI. Over the last few years organizer Larry Courtney has grown the event from a one-day cruise down famous Woodward Avenue to a multi-day festival of all things Corvette. This year’s festivities kick off on Wednesday August 15th. Read on the see all of the activities on deck this year.

The main attraction of Corvettes on Woodward is the Wednesday night cruise down Woodward. Last year a record 563 Corvettes were in attendance. Even more are expected this year. The group assembles at a Radisson hotel in Bloomfield Hills and then cruises about 5 miles south to the food bank en mass to drop off their donations. From there the group will cruise back north up M-1 to the Moose Preserve restaurant for a wrap up of the day’s activities.

While cars are staging at the hotel there will be a DJ spinning up some tunes while people peruse the booths of C-Magic Car Care Products, Corvette Central, Galli Sports Apparel, Cruis’News magazine, the NCM, Cauley Performance Automotive, and Matick Chevrolet who will be bringing a selection of Callaways to ogle. A 50/50 drawing will take place prior to departure for the food bank. One of our sponsors, Zip Corvette, will be providing the goodie bags. Harlan Charles and the Corvette Team are bringing several new 2013 Corvettes as well.

Cars will depart for the Open Hands Food Bank about 7:30pm. A $5 bill gets you into the parking lot and entered in a raffle for a framed Dana Forester print.

Wednesday’s festivities get started with 2 separate tours of the GM Heritage Center before the crowds start to gather at the starting point. Thursday’s tours include the GM Performance Build Center and an evening get together at a Hooters Restaurant in Troy. On Friday, visits to the Stahl Automotive Foundation, the Webber Wildlife Museum, and Katech Performance are planned. Finally on Saturday August 18th join 1,000,000 other classic car lovers and 40,000 cars as they celebrate America’s fascination with the automobile on the official day of the annual Woodward Dream Cruise.

What would you like to see Tony Stewart drive during a special exhibition at Charlotte Motor Speedway on August 28?

It’s up to the fans to make that choice as part of a special Mobil 1 Facebook page survey going on now through August 27.

Mobil 1 is sponsoring the voting that will decide the vehicle he’ll be commandeering around the track: a Mobil 1 Racing-edition Bondurant Corvette Grand Sport, the Mobil 1 Formula Drift Chevy Camaro SS, a Chevy Astro Van, or a World War II-vintage tank.

“Even though I’ve driven quite a few cars throughout my racing career, this is going to be really fun,” said Stewart, driver of the No. 14 Mobil 1/Office Depot Chevrolet Impala. “On the Charlotte Motor Speedway infield road course, I’ve never been behind the wheel of any of the four vehicles involved in the voting. I could be doing laps in anything – a racing Corvette or Camaro, a soccer-mom van or vintage tank. No matter what the fans pick, it’s going to be a big difference from taking the Mobil 1 Chevy through the oval in Charlotte.”

The voting is set up in three rounds, with fans each allowed one vote daily during each round. The first round, going on August 7 through August 13, pairs off the Chevy Astro minivan against the M36 GMC Jackson Tank. The second round, from August 14 to August 20, features the Corvette Grand Sport against the Formula Drift Camaro SS. The winners of those rounds will then meet to decide the winner during a final round of voting August 21 to August 27.

You can see which vehicle was most popular when Stewart unveils it by driving it around the track on August 28.

A dark red 1975 Corvette coupe was one of the victims of a six-garage fire during the night Tuesday in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago.

The police Bomb & Arson Unit is investigating the fire, but say no proof of arson has been uncovered yet.

Before being quickly put out, the fire damaged two other vehicles, a convertible and a Ford Explorer.

Corvette owner Ty Hanson told reporters that he has been restoring his vintage car for more than 15 years. Photos on the Chicago Sun-Times website show what appears to be paint bubbling off most of the back of the Corvette, apparently from the heat, but we couldn’t tell the extent of the damage overall, especially to the front of the car.

Hanson is just glad no one was hurt in the blaze. “That’s the important thing,” he said.

Authorities say the fire started around midnight Tuesday at a garage near Farragut and Ashland avenues, then spread quickly to five other garages.

One resident on the block told NBCChicago that he heard a bang around midnight, then saw his neighbor’s garage in flames.

The fire completely destroyed the garage where it started, and four lines were used to quickly extinguish the blaze, which also knocked out cable and Internet services for blocks around and caused siding to slide off the backs of nearby homes.
