Innotech Aspiron Supercar Headed For Goodwood Festival Of Speed

A new track car with the performance and looks to match a Formula One car is in the works and set to make its debut in just a few days at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the U.K. That track car is the 2014 Innotech Aspiron, which has been developed by the same people behind 2008’s striking Innotech Corvette C6 .

Chevrolet Details Limited Production Options for Customizing the 2014 Corvette Stingray

Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles likes to talk about all the ways you can customize the 2014 Corvette Stingray to make it your own, but details about how you can accessorize the seventh-generation sports car have been vague at best. Until now.

We recently got our hands on a dealership LPO card which details some of the accessories that are coming from Chevrolet for the 2014 Corvette Stingray.

When placing an order for the Corvette Stingray, buyers select options and accessories from a list of Regular Production Options or RPOs. But there is also a list of LPOs which stands for Limited Production Options. These are preordered options that include a single accessory or a collection of accessories that are part of a special package. LPOs are usually dealer installed prior to customer delivery unless otherwise noted.

The Corvette LPO list we receive details both accessories that are currently available as well as those coming later this year.

Examples of the available LPOs include Stingray logo floor mats, door still plates, center caps and indoor and outdoor car covers. Included on the list are the 5-spoke chrome Torque wheels, which we just saw on the 2014 Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition, and the 5-piece luggage kit. One item that we haven’t seen yet is the Cyber Gray Grille which we assume will replace the front mounted black carbon flash grille.

The list of those LPO’s that should be available by the time Corvettes start arriving to dealerships during the 3rd Quarter is even more interesting.

On the inside, buyers can opt for an Interior Stingray Logo package, which includes the Stingray badge on the floor console lid, still plates and floor mats. Buyers can also get the PUR-wrapped floor console lid with the Stingray logo in their choice of interior colors – Black, Med Ash, Kalahari and Adrenaline Red. It’s also available for the 3LT Brownstone suede wrapped option as well.

For the exterior, the 5-spoke Torque Wheels will also be available in silver with crossed flag logo center caps.

There will be an Exterior Trim Kit which swaps out all the black Carbon Flash vents – quarter vent, hood vent, fender vent and taillamp scoops – for those painted Cyber Gray. We assume that you’ll want to add the Cyber Gray front grille as well with this choice.

A number of spoiler options will be available as well. For the non-Z51 cars, you can get a body color painted wing instead of the standard black, or you can get the Z51 full-length spoiler in either carbon flash or full body color too.

A Stingray Appearance package for the Coupe comes with a crossed-flags underhood liner, indoor car cover and chrome center caps.

There are also a number of items listed that we’re not quite sure of, so if you’re ordering a new 2014 Corvette Stingray, talk with your sales specialist about these new options.

You can see the full list of options on the LPO card:

1963 Corvette Brings Old High School Friends Together

Sometimes a car is more than a car. Take Larry Clement’s 1963 Corvette convertible, for example.

A member of the Class of ’63 at Newton High School in Newton, Iowa, Larry brought the Corvette to their 50th reunion in June, and it immediately became a symbol of the successes enjoyed by the class in 1963 and ever since, including his two close friends, Tom Ross and Jim Getz.

“It wasn’t about the individual,” Ross said, looking back at their high school days. “That was the best thing about what we did. Nobody was looking for ink for themselves.”

The whole community turned out to support the accomplishments of the Class of 1963, and there were plenty of them. The basketball team won the championship that year, the debate team brought home several awards, and many students were cited for their musical talents.

The three men gave credit for their school’s success to the support they received from their teachers, coaches, and the community in general.

“This community allows you, if you have a group of people that are outstanding or exceptional or even to a point to where they are trying to be exceptional in any given way… whatever you choose, this community has a tendency to grab their arms around it and be a part of it,” Ross said.

Clement had been looking for his special 1963 Corvette for years and got the word about it while he was enjoying a trip to Disney World with his grandchildren.

“My wife wasn’t sure that I needed another Corvette,” he said. “I said, ‘I gotta have a ’63.’”

As we said, sometimes a car is more than a car. For these three friends, this Corvette is a symbol of the close relationship they’ve enjoyed for the past 50-plus years.

As Newton Daily News writer Dave Hon wrote in a story about the men: “The car didn’t symbolize simpler times or a better era, but a past that shaped the three men into who they were, and reminded them of what Newton — as a community and town — expected from them and gave back to them.”

New Fisher-Price Power Wheels Corvette Stingray Coming this Fall

New Fisher-Price Power Wheels Corvette Stingray Coming this Fall

Well, Chevrolet has been saying all along that it wants to target a younger audience with the new Corvette Stingray.

Chevy may get its wish based on this just-announced Fisher-Price version of the 2014 Stingray that looks a whole lot like the new Corvette, only a lot smaller for little kids to get a dose of Corvette fever.

Fisher-Price says that its Power Wheels version will be loaded out, including “chrome,” wheels and that your little toddler can really burn up the roads – with a top speed of 6 miles per hour (down to 3 miles per hour in reverse).

Good news for the little kids, too. Their version of the Stingray will be available in September, about the same time hopefully Dad will be able to go out and buy his big-kid version from the local Chevy dealer. Only the Fisher-Price car will be a lot cheaper – at just $275, compared to $51,995 and up for the real thing.
