The Lingenfelter Collection Fall Open House is Saturday, October 12th

One of our happy places, The Lingenfelter Collection, will be holding their annual fall open house coming up on Saturday, October 12th. Festivities will run from 10am to 5pm. Since October is breast cancer awareness month, proceeds from the event will go to the Shades of Pink Foundation which helps ease the financial burden of a breast cancer diagnosis.

“Our Fall Open House will be a day of cars, fun and fashion dedicated to supporting the Shades of Pink Foundation” said Kristen Lingenfelter. “We greatly appreciate all our friends and event attendees for their compassion and generosity in helping support the important mission of Shades of Pink.”

The Fall Open House will feature roughly 150 cars of the Lingenfelter collection as well as two runway fashion shows. The catwalk will be active at 11:30am and 12:30pm showcasing wears from Impulse Boutique, Lolly Ella Jewelry, Lady LA’s of LaFontaine Automotive Group, Mariposa Boutique, Harley Davidson and Mother Fletchers Vintage Boutique. Entertainment will include live tunes performed by the Sanctuary Blues Band. Two Brothers Catering will provide the food and beverages.

Additionally, Brighton Harley-Davidson will show a Pink Label Harley-Davidson apparel line. They will also debut a special Harley-Davidson Breast Cancer motorcycle. Proceeds from the sale of the bike will also benefit the Shades of Pink Foundation. Throughout October, Lolly Ella Jewelry will be donating 100% of the sales from their special pink quartz bracelet to the foundation. Rottermond Jewelers will be showing off a heart-shaped pink pendant at the Fall Open House. A portion of the proceeds from its sales will also be donated to the foundation. Finally, there will also be a pink photo booth in addition to boutique shopping as well as several “pink” raffle items.

Over 150 cars make up the Lingenfelter Collection. Highlights include a Bugatti Veyron, several Ferrari’s including an Enzo, F40, a 288 GTO, and a FF, a Lambo Reventon, and a Porsche Carrera GT among several others. The muscle car room holds old Firebirds, Camaros, a Hemi Challenger, AAR Cuda, Novas, Mustangs, and pretty much 1 of every muscle car you can think of. In the Corvette section there’s a 1953 Supercharged Corvette, 1954 Silver styling Corvette, 1954 Duntov Mule, 2 Guldstrand GS90’s and about 10 Callaways in addition to about 30 other examples.

The Lingenfelter Collection Fall Open House will take place Saturday, October 12 from 10am to 5pm. Admission is free, but donations to the Shades of Pink Foundation are encouraged. The collection is located at 7819 Lochlin Drive in Brighton, Michigan. For more information you can contact Kristen Lingenfelter at Kristen@lingenfelter.com.

We’ve received lots of questions about when the Bowling Green Assembly Plant will resume tours of the Corvette Stingray production facility in Kentucky.

While the Corvette team has been focused on launching the new Stingray and shipping C7s to customers, as of last week they did not have a firm date when the plant tours would resume.

We’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime, this six-minute video provides a good preview of what the new plant tour might offer.

Plus, these production plant photos give you an inside look at the assembly line.

[VIDEO] Hennessey Performance Dynos the 2014 Corvette Stingray

Here’s another tuner that has recently got their hands on the 2014 Corvette Stingray. Hennessey Performance announced early on their plans to upgrade the new C7 Corvette and that process begins with doing a baseline dyno test of the car.

Hennessey says the Black Stingray is a bone stock 3LT 6-speed auto with the Z51 Performance Package. The video shows the Corvette Stingray put down 399-rwhp and 400 ft-lbs of torque. That’s slightly less than Lingenfelter Performance Engineering’s dyno test which saw a Z51 7-speed Corvette test at 416-rwhp and 416 ft-lbs.

Back in July, Hennessey released an aggressive list of upgrade packages for the Corvette Stingray. Those packages ranged from a 600 hp TVS supercharger upgrade priced at $12,495 to a 1,000 hp system consisting of a HPE custom forged engine priced at $67,950.

1962 Corvette Treasured for Four Decades by Owner Lost in Garage Fire

The good news is that no one was injured.

The bad news is that E.H. Martin’s beautiful 1962 Corvette was destroyed Wednesday night when the garage in which it was parked caught on fire.

Martin had owned the Corvette since 1970 and estimates he spent some $60,000 restoring and repairing the car during that time.

His bright red convertible was a common sight at area car shows around his hometown of Fortville, Ind.. In fact, he had just returned in the car after a cruise-in earlier in the evening, his grandson said.

By Thursday morning, the family was looking through the rubble, checking out the damage to their home in the 300 block of North Madison Street.

While the garage was a total loss, firefighters were able to contain the flames before they spread throughout the attached two-story house. Still, the home suffered heavy damage.

Sadly, in a photo on the Daily Reporter website, the Corvette appears to be a total loss, with most of the fiberglass and tires melted away and charred timbers resting atop it – a far cry from the shiny red car that’s also pictured before the fire.
