New Spy Photos of the 2015 Corvette Z07 Reveal More Details
New spy photos published today by Autoweek appears to reveal many new details regarding the highly anticipated 2015 Corvette Z07. The Corvette in the photos are well covered in camouflaged fabric, but we were still able to catch a glimpse of the how the new front end might look as well as the rear brake cooling ducts. Plus, this Corvette has some really big brakes!
The front end is covered, but you can definitely make out how the front grill is a different size and shape than the current C7 Corvette Stingray. There are cutouts on each side of the large center opening which either serve as additional air vents or fog lights. If this is the front end, you will be easily be able to identify it as the Z07 much like you used to be able to ID a Z06 coming down the road before the Grand Sports arrived in 2010.
The rear brake cooling vents are also visible for the first time. Like the C6′s vent, it’s not very large, but appears to be roughly the same height. There’s a feature line under it and we have to think that those rear fenders are a little wider than the base Stingray to cover the additional rubber seen mounted on the rear wheels of the prototype.
The Corvette Stingray is using Brembo brakes as standard fare, but the rotors shown here are not from the base Stingray. These remind us of the Brembo’s found on the 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbons. Those big, cross drilled rotors that look a lot like carbon ceramic helped give the Corvette Z06 Carbon the best stopping power of any car in its class. The rotors were different than those spotted on Corvette Z07 Convertible Prototype Spiedearlier spy photos.
The photographer Chris Doane tells Autoweek that the rocker panels are more aggressive. We had a hard time getting a look at those as it was one of the features Chevy was able to cover well.
Check out Autoweek for all the spy pics as well as their speculation on the return of the LT4, a 6.2L V8 with 600-650 horsepower at the ready. Like us, they’re hoping the new model in the C7 lineup makes its debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show.

[ACCIDENT] Arizona County Official’s Red C5 Corvette Damaged in Crash
An accident involving a county government leader made some news earlier this month in Arizona.
Maricopa County Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox’s red C5 Corvette convertible (with light oak top) is smiling a little sideways these days – with the front bumper knocked loose and hanging on by only one side and the passenger’s side of the hood pointing toward the sky now.
Phoenix New Times blog is reporting that a local activist named Lydia Guzman posted the photos of Wilcox’s accident on Facebook. Guzman blamed the wreck on another motorist running a red light but said that Wilcox was not injured in the wreck.
It’s not the first time and probably won’t be the last time Wilcox is in the news. The New Times reports that in 2012 she received a $975,000 settlement after being determined to be a victim of the discredited criminal investigations by Sheriff Joe Arpaio and former County Attorney Andrew Thomas. Some accused her of “doing so well financially courtesy of us taxpayers she recently bought a SECOND late model Corvette.”
These allegations obviously come from someone who doesn’t know the value of a C5 Corvette, which is actually cheaper these days than a lot of ordinary new “economy” cars. We don’t know what kind of second Corvette she has, but unless it’s a real late model, she didn’t necessarily spend big bucks for her toys.
Wilcox also came under attack another time after Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sean Pearce, son of now-ousted Senate President Russell Pearce, told his superior that he witnessed Wilcox asking a county mechanic to check the air in one of her Corvette’s tires. That became a “review” of an “incident” involving an “alleged improper use of public resources.” She was cleared of the charges, and we wonder just how much taxpayer money was wasted investigating this alleged “crime.”
And people wonder why good folks are reluctant to run for political office!
If owning two Corvettes is a reason to be criticized by voters, then there are a lot of people out there who might not want to toss their hats in the ring next election season.
By the way, if you think Sheriff Arpaio sounds familiar, no wonder. He’s the sheriff who has been featured in the media thousands of times in regard to his treatment of prisoners, including the institution of a Tent City next to the jail to house some inmates, who have complained about the extremely high temperatures inside. “It’s 120 degrees in Iraq and the soldiers are living in tents, have to wear full body armor, and they didn’t commit any crimes, so shut your mouths,” Arpaio told them.

Rick Hendrick Picks Up First Production 2014 Corvette Stingray
Can you imagine the excitement for Rick Hendrick on Friday?
That’s when he finally took delivery of the first production 2014 Corvette Stingray that he had purchased way back in January during the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Arizona.
GM presented the NASCAR team owner and auto dealer, and Corvette collector extraordinaire, with Stingray VIN 0001 during a ceremony at GM’s Warren Tech Center, then surprised everyone, including Hendrick, with another new Corvette, VIN 0002.
No doubt, that made Hendricks’ winning $1.1 million bid during the Barrett-Jackson auction twice as nice.
The first Corvette, by the way, is black with a red interior. The second Stingray is red with a red interior.
Both cars stickered for about $75,000, meaning they are fully loaded with options.
“Being the biggest Corvette gearhead in the world,” Hendrick said, “I don’t know anything that would top this.”
Hendrick’s latest Corvettes will be added to his ever-growing collection of special ‘Vettes, which now number about 150. He says he doesn’t plan to drive either one of the Stingrays, but let’s hope he does get another Stingray “driver” so he can enjoy the thrill of being behind the wheel!
By the way, the $1.1 million bid benefited the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, where it will be used for student financial aid.
Later this year, Hendrick will also take delivery of the first production 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible, which he also purchased for $1 million during April 2013′s Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach

[VIDEO] Removing the Corvette Stingray’s Transit Cover
As we’ve seen from the shipping pics and videos, the 2014 Corvette Stingrays are being shipped with a heavy duty cover designed to protect them as much as possible while in transit.
One of the top questions about shipping has been whether owners can keep the covers. But after seeing this video, I pretty much guarantee that once removed, you won’t want to try putting it back on.
This video comes from our friend Rick Corvette Conti at Coughlin Chevrolet in Ohio. Rick received his first allocation on Friday and proceeded to unwrap the car like a boy on Christmas morning unwrapping the best gift ever.
You’ll see this isn’t just a cover that you can whip on or off at a moments notice. There’s a lot of taps and flaps and that piece of plastic that Rick points out would make me nervous anytime I had it around the Stingray’s exterior.
Still, for those that like to keep all the documentation and original wrappers that their car comes in, the transport cover will still make a nice addition to the collection.
