2011 Corvette Grand Sport Stolen From Canadian GMC Dealership
For some, the lure of owning a Corvette is sometimes taken to extremes.
Take this 2011 Corvette Grand Sport for example.
The car must have made one heck of an impression on someone as it was stolen from a Canadian car dealer last week by being driven through a glass window.
Penticton’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police Force (RCMP) responded to a report of broken glass and a Corvette that sped away from Huber GMC in Penticton, British Columbia.
Police observed the Silver Corvette traveling at a high rate of speed and the car was clocked by radar doing 220 km/h (137 mph). Officers decided not to initiate pursuit and put out calls to the neighboring RCMP post in Summerland. Roadblocks were set up to capture the thief but he must have turned off the highway before reaching those checkpoints.
The Corvette is described as being a 2011 Special Heritage Edition Grand Sport Corvette which probably means the Corvette Coupe was outfitted with the GS Heritage Package.
If you have any details regarding the Corvette Grand Sport, call the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

[ACCIDENT] Community Loses Power after 1974 Corvette Slams into Utility Pole
Corvettes are known for their power.
This black 1974 Corvette is known now for its ability to knock out the power to nearly 700 customers after it collided with a utility pole over the weekend.
The 40-year-old driver of the classic C3 faces a charge of careless driving, according to Hamilton Police Chief Carol Pacey, after he rammed his car into a hydro pole near Hunter Street in the Dundas community in Ontario, Canada at approximately 11:15 a.m. Sunday.
The crash chopped the pole in two, and emergency crews took an hour to extract the driver from the Corvette and take him to General Hospital. Fortunately, his injuries weren’t believed to be life threatening.
Meanwhile, crews from Horizon Utilities had power back on by 5:30 p.m. for all the affected customers in the area bounded by York Road, Olympic Drive, King Street East and York Road.

Corvette Stingray Precision Drive Event Comes to South Florida
One of the innovative ways that Chevy is marketing the all-new Corvette Stingray is by getting people behind the wheel to experience the car for themselves on a racetrack. That’s the goal of the invitation-only Stingray Precision Drive Event which held its second event over the weekend in Palm Beach, Florida.
The Stingray Precision Drive Event is a collaboration between Chevy and Conde Nast, publishers of magazines including Golf Digest, GQ, Wired and Architectural Digest. These magazines data-mined their subscribers to come up with a list of potential new buyers of the Corvette Stingray and they were invited to come out to Palm Beach International Raceway to experience the C7 Corvette for themselves.
Over 40 Corvette Stingrays in different configurations and trim levels were assembled for the Stingray Precision Drive Event and the participants had the opportunity to experience the sports cars in three different modules set up on the racetrack.
The first module was set up to demonstrate the drive mode selector and participants followed a lead driver through a slalom course in each of these four modes: Eco, Touring, Sport and Track.
The Second driving module was held on the small but tight go-cart track. Again using the lead and follow format, drivers could select any of the driver modes to experience the capabilities of the Corvette on the tight and twisting track.
Finally, the third driving module allowed the participants the opportunity to experience the full power of the 460 hp LT1 V8 on the full racetrack. The 1.5 mile track gave drivers the opportuniy to go full throttle on the two straights up to 120 mph.
The Stingray Precision Drive Event kicked off its eight city track tour at New York’s Monticello Raceway earlier this month and Palm Beach was the second stop for the driving event. We think this is a great way for potential buyers to experience the full bandwidth offered by the Corvette Stingray in its natural habitat.
Here are some photos we found on Tumblr from the event:
