Bowling Green UAW Local 2164 held their vote on Wednesday on whether to accept the negotiated labor agreement hammered out with General Motors after striking for 38 days. When the votes were tabulated, 56% (498) voted against the new agreement while 44% (393) voted to accept it.
That’s a far cry from the 70% approval rating that Local 2164 President Jack Bowers thought the new contract would garner earlier in the week.

We heard through the grapevine that there were some new “High Wing” photos and so turning to various social media platforms, we found these four photos of a Torch Red 2020 Corvette Stingray posted to the GM ASEP Instagram account.
According to their website’s description, “General Motors Automotive Service Education Program (GM ASEP) delivers advanced automotive service training, appropriate academic coursework, and real world internship experiences to give students the best possible preparation for a career as an automotive technician”.

Our friend Travis Raczynski has a Black 2009 Corvette GT1 Championship Edition Convertible that he has owned since new. As a series, these are rare Corvettes with 125 produced and only seven were Black Convertibles. It’s a beautiful car and we were fortunate to be able to feature it in our book on Corvette Special Editions.

Last month we poured over a lot of interesting data regarding the seventh generation Corvette’s production run. We looked at total C7 production focusing mostly on color, we broke down the run of C7 Z06’s, had a post about overall Grand Sport production, and we also looked into the ZR1’s extended one-year life.

Retired GM Performance Car Design Chief Tom Peters was at California’s Art Center design school for their annual car classic and he spoke about the new 2020 Corvette Stingray. He covers different aspects of the design of the Mid-Engine Corvette and how designers differentiate the designs between various models, and he also touches on some of the challenges the team faced.
Although we haven’t mentioned him much lately, everybody’s favorite Corvette_Nut is still offering interesting nuggets of C8 intel in the form of photos and videos. We’ve hypothesized previously that we believe him to be somehow related to a Corvette engineering team based on his proximity to the pre-launch C8 prototypes.

I had a somewhat busy day that took me away from the keyboard most of Tuesday, so consider this a late-night snack, or early morning breakfast if you’re reading this on Wednesday.
I found a “quick” video of a manual C7 Corvette Z06 doing its thing on the dragstrip…spitting flames and then taking down a Viper.

Most Corvettes are driven very sparingly. A quick search of Cars.com reveals that of the 9,653 1953-2019 Corvettes currently listed for sale (with mileage listed and excluding rage-inducing duplicates from “home delivery” dealerships), 7,619 or 79% currently sit at under 40,000 miles. If we limit our search to cars with under 20k miles, a shocking 6,238 (64.6%) Corvettes are left standing.
