[VIDEO] Corvette Racing Garage Discussion with Doug Fehan and Ben Johnson at Daytona

During the run-up to the 2020 Rolex 24 at Daytona, we were invited to join other journalists for a quick Q&A inside the Corvette Racing garage on Saturday morning before the race. Joining us from the racing team was Corvette Racing Program Manager Doug Fehan and Team Manager Ben Johnson.

As a quick aside, I’m trying out a few different methods to capture video in my quest to downsize the amount of equipment I carry and I shot this video with a GoPro.

Corvette Value for Performance as Inspired by Car and Driver

Corvette Value for Performance as Inspired by Car and Driver

If you aren’t someone who still subscribes to the print version of Car and Driver, you really should give it another look! More than any other monthly automotive publication, C&D saves some of its best columns and features for actual magazine pages. The “Backfires” section of the most recent issue featured a suggestion from a reader which we have approximately recreated below:

The gist of Paul from Winterbourne, Ontario’s (slightly west of Toronto if you were curious) suggestion is that he would like to see a value piece added to C&D’s excellent annual Lightning Lap feature (which is worth the subscription price by itself).

[PIC] Iconic ‘Zora Head’ Logo Found on the 2020 Corvette

When the C8 Corvette prototype made its now-famous drive through New York City with Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter and GM CEO Mary Barra last April, it was discovered that the team had placed small photos of the Corvette’s first chief engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov all around the car.

We further learned that these “Zora Head” stickers were used by the Corvette Team members in Detroit to restrict access to the med-engine cars as they were undergoing development.

Beware the Jokesters Offering C8 Corvette Wheels for Sale Online

“Let the buyer beware” was never truer than in the case of these two ads, trying to sell C8 wheels that aren’t even available to the general public yet.

These two jokesters are obviously having a little fun – we hope – at the expense of the GM employee – we assume – who discovered his 2020 Corvette Stingray left without its tires and wheels while parked on a Detroit street last week.

This mid-1970s Corvette coupe took a cue from the old slogan for Timex watches: It took a licking and kept on ticking.

The white Corvette had taken a ride on an industrial elevator so it could be stored on the second floor of a historic building in Rantoul, Ill., where a mechanic’s garage had once operated for decades.

A company in Ashtabula, OH has been part of the Corvette since the very beginning. It was Robert Morrison’s company called Molded Fiber Glass (MFG) that built the first fiberglass panels for the 1953 Corvette. I featured the story in my book Corvette Special Editions, and you can read a quick version of MFG’s role in building the first Corvettes at the company’s website.
