[PIC] C6 Corvette Driver is Clocked Speeding at 131 MPH in South Dakota

A C6 Corvette owner will be making a healthy donation to the state of South Dakota after he was caught speeding at 131 mph on Interstate 29 by a trooper on the South Dakota Highway Patrol.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol shared the Trooper’s photo to their Facebook page that shows the silver C6 Corvette from behind.

Electric vehicles only accounted for 1.9% of new vehicle sales in 2019, down from an all-time high of just 2.1% the year prior. This was all in spite of an influx of new zero-emission vehicles hitting the market year-over-year. The EV market’s extremely limited reach hasn’t detoured General Motors from investing $20 billion in the technology in an attempt to supplant Tesla as the market’s go-to supplier of zero-emission vehicles.

Earlier this week we brought you the story of Jake Spiczka’s 2020 Corvette whose engine seized up while it was been driven by a couple of YouTubers. During an inspection of the car at the dealership, metal shavings were found in the oil filter. As the data logs showed it wasn’t a driver error, GM requested the engine be sent to Detroit where it was inspected by engineers.

Even with the world slowed down by coronavirus, the aftermarket has still been busy creating different looks for the new mid-engine Corvette.

The latest example comes from Instagram courtesy of Monaco Auto Design.

Their rendering of a widebody 2020 Corvette is one of the more mild creations we’ve featured, with the major changes being the wide, add-ons fender wells at the rear and the thin, vertical air intakes at the front.

Back in February before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the USA, IndyCar racer Josef Newgarden toured the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, KY where he would have the opportunity to see his own personal mid-engine Corvette being built.

Josef tours the factory with the plant’s communications manager Rachel Bagshaw and we see a bit of the inside of the administration building first before heading out onto the assembly plant floor.

Chevrolet and the Miss America Pageant go together like baseball, hot dogs, and apple pie!

That’s why it was appropriate that Monday, on the 67th birthday of the Corvette, the National Corvette Museum rolled out its latest donation – a dark blue metallic 1988 Corvette convertible that was one of five Miss America show cars that Chevrolet would take on the auto show circuit that year, promoting their sponsorship of the pageant.
