Over the last couple of months the amount of email we receive has gone up exponentially as many 2020 Corvette buyers were in the dark as to what was happening with their orders, and if they would even receive a 2020 Corvette. Since then, GM has offered guidance on the question which boils down to those whose orders were at 3000 event status will be getting a 2020 model, while all others will have to be moved to 2021.

Our friends at the Corvette Action Center are offering the first public look at the options associated with the 2021 Corvette as the dealer order configurator recently went live through “GM’s Global Connect via quick order.” However, no pricing is yet associated with the 2021 model year options.

We’ve done a run-through of the major changes for the Mid-Engine Corvette’s sophomore year at least three times now since the first leak of options happened back in March.

Chevy Closes the Order Books on the 2020 Corvette as 2021 Ordering Will Start in Late May

Just before Wednesday’s news came in that GM was closing all North American manufacturing facilities through March 30th, an email was sent to Chevrolet dealers notifying them that new Sold Orders (SRE) for the 2020 Corvette will not be accepted. In the same email, dealers were told that they can begin taking orders for the 2021 Corvette in late May.

No Constraints for December’s C8 Corvette Orders

More good news for those of you holding a pre-order on the 2020 Corvette Stingray. Our friends at Kerbeck Corvette tell us that there are no constraints this week on ordering the 2020 Corvette, other than you cannot yet order the Convertible model.

Chevrolet has two order periods happening in December for C8 Corvette orders, one last week and one this week.

2020 Corvette is Sold Out According to GM’s North American President

We’ve heard for months now that the C8 Corvette is going to be hard to find for 2020.

Now, GM North America President Barry Engle has confirmed to MotorTrend that all 40,000 of the C8s that Chevrolet plans to build for 2020 are already accounted for. That probably means that dealer allocations have been filled for the slots for both the coupe and convertible versions.

If everything has gone to plan since the last C7 Corvette rolled off the Bowling Green Assembly Line in mid-November, this next week will begin a new chapter as the mid-engine Corvette inches closer to full-scale production. That’s because the retooling of the plant should now be complete and this week begins the ramped-up production of 350 captured test fleet cars.

GM to Reopen 2020 Corvette Ordering in December and Kills Planned Production Ramp-Up Schedule

We finally got some good news regarding the ordering and production of the 2020 Corvette Stingray via our friends at Kerbeck Corvette in Atlantic City. Here’s the latest info on constraints, dealer ordering and even some more good news regarding the ordering of the 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible.

Before the start of the strike, Chevrolet was expected to open the ordering process is September (which they did) and then there would be one order submission period per month from September through December.

Current 2020 Corvette Orders Undergoing Updates to TPWs

Production of the new mid-engine 2020 Corvette Stingray was expected to start the week of December 2nd. But then the UAW strike happened, which pushed the earliest TPWs (Target Production Weeks) for those buyers with accepted orders back to January 20th at the earliest. Others have reported that updates to their TPWs pushed the start of their cars into February.
