2020 Corvette Production Start Slides to February with Convertibles Starting in 2nd Quarter

It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster since Chevrolet first starting accepting orders in September for the 2020 Corvette Stingray Coupe.

After the first order consensus in September, Chevrolet scheduled the first wave of retail production to begin in early December. But then came the nearly 6-week long UAW strike which shut everything down.

GM Strike Hits the 2020 Corvette as the First Week of Production is Pushed Back to Mid-January

Over the weekend we started hearing some whispers about the start of the 2020 Corvette production being shifted to early 2020 due to the GM strike. While no official statement has been released, Corvette enthusiasts with TPWs (Target Production Week) started receiving updates showing their orders were pushed back.

Here’s what our friends at the MidEngineCorvetteForum are saying on this:

Information given by Chevy Chat to a person whose car had/has an EXTREMELY low VIN, that customer being told by Chat today that his TPW, which was originally confirmed for December 2nd production (an order with no complicating issues such as requested changes, no constraints affecting it, etc), now has a January 20th TPW.

C7 Corvette ZR1 Total Production Breakdown

The King returned to his hill as a grand finale for the seventh generation Corvette. 2,441 ZR1 coupes and 512 ZR1 convertibles were built during the extended 2019 model year for a grand total of 2,953 retail units of the supercharged swan song of the C7.

The ZR1 is undoubtedly the most capable Corvette of all time but with option ZTK (colloquially known as the big-wing package), buyers had to decide if they wanted to slay road courses with the 950 lbs.
