There is spring in the air in balmy Geneva, where it seems a good idea to whip the roofs off and cruise along the lake.

[PIC] First View of the 2014 Corvette Stingray with an Automatic Transmission
While many consider it blasphemy for a sports car to come with anything other than a manual transmission, Corvette owners year after year have professed their love for the six speed paddle shift autos. So it’s only fitting that we show the first pic of the 2014 Corvette Stingray’s interior with the automatic transmission and paddleshifters on the steering wheel.
The transmission’s shifter looks great on the center console. The gear selections are well marked on the side and the boot and shifter contain the premium materials we’ve heard so much of from the interior designers.
You can also see the paddleshift lever on the right side of the steering wheel.

The six speed automatic has undergone a transformation along with other components of the C7 Corvette. With the drive mode selector, the driver can customize many key areas of the Corvette’s driving experience including shift points and the shift comfort of the transmission.
C7 Corvette owners who opt for the automatic transmission will also get some of the goodies previously reserved only for manual tranny owners including Launch Control.

GRAND-AM: No. 99 Gainsco Corvette DP Wins at COTA
It was a good start Saturday for the Gainsco-Bob Stallings Racing Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype team as they won the Grand-Am of the Americas Presented By Gainesco and Total at the new Circuit of the Americas track in Austin, Texas.
After driver Jon Fogarty had driven to the pole in the No. 99 Red Dragon, co-driver Alex Gurney put the finishing touches on the race as he held off Ryan Dalziel in the Starworks Motorsports Riley-Ford on the last lap and held on for the victory.
Gainsco picked up its first win in nearly two years for owner Bob Stallings of Dallas, who sponsored the race with his insurance company.
“It was a very intense race,” Gurney said. “That last 30 minutes seemed to last forever.”
The new 3.4-mile track was hosting its first Grand Am event, and all drivers expressed praise for the rookie facility, which had hosted a Formula One race in November.
Though the crowd was much smaller this weekend, track officials still said they were happy with the two-day total of 26,648, even though F1′s three-day total had been 117,000.
Three other Corvette DP teams placed in the top 10, with Stephane Sarrazin fourth in the 8 Star Motorsports car, Christian Fittipaldi fifth for Action Express Racing, and Max Angelelli 10th for Wayne Taylor Racing.

Chevrolet Builds Last C6 Corvette
It’s customary to sign a card for a departing coworker, or perhaps bring in a cake and have a get-together. Employees at Chevrolet’s Bowling Green Assembly Plant said goodbye to an old friend at the end of last month, but there wasn’t any time for cake: the old friend was the sixth-generation Chevrolet Corvette, and workers quickly got back to work … (more)
[PICS] Chevy Releases Three New Photos of the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible
Here are three new photos of the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible which just went on display at the PalExpo in Geneva, Switzerland. Since Chevrolet’s press conference isn’t until 2:30 AM ET on Tuesday, March 5th, real details on the next generation ragtop Corvette are still scarce.
These new photos show the Stingray Convertible from the rear. Like the front the car, there are some great lines on the rear that we know contribute to its slipperiness. As it was developed in the wind tunnel, we know that every line matters.
We also like the looks of the raised headrest platforms behind the seats on the rear deck which looks much more aggressive when compared to the twin humps found on the C6′s convertible rear deck.
From the front photos released on Saturday, we can see the familiar “waterfall” between the two seats is there. On these rear-looking photos, you can see two creases which flow from the waterfall area and become more pronounced at the end of the car.
You will notice an absence of the air intake vents that appear on the Coupe and that makes sense as they would be on the portion of the rear deck that opens and closes when the top is put up and down.
One other feature to note is that this particular Corvette is an automatic which you can see in both pictures when the top is down.
Here are the three new photos of the 2014 Corvette Stingray plus we included the two photos released Saturday.
With the car on display at the Geneva Motor Show, we’ll be watching twitter and facebook as we’re pretty sure pics will become available fairly rapidly.
We’ll also be counting down the hours until the official reveal which will take place at 2:30 am tonight (March 5th). If you can’t watch the reveal live, the replay of the Stingray’s press conference will be shown.
