Scouting Report: Ferrari 458 Italia

As a part of their C8 Corvette review, YouTube channel The Fast Lane Car (TFL), spoke to Corvette Chief Engineer Ed Piatek about which cars General Motors has purchased for benchmarking purposes. Ed followed the company line and didn’t reveal anything that we don’t already know, citing our old friends, the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Porsche 911 GT2RS, which have both been seen testing along with camouflaged C8 mules that speculators have labeled Z06 models.

C8 Corvette Secrets: The 2020 Corvette is the First to Have a Flat Underbody

When it comes to perfecting the aerodynamics of the mid-engine C8 Corvettes, the Corvette team worked closely with the engineers at Pratt & Miller to take what has been learned on the race track and transfer that technology to the new streetcars.

One of the new innovations to come from racing to the C8 Corvette is the inclusion of a flat underbody where the entire underside of the car is enclosed with panels with just a few access holes for the oil filter and the like.

Many of you fellow enthusiasts out there are paranoid about just getting a tiny nick on the front bumper of your Corvette or even letting a little rainfall dampen the fiberglass.

Imagine the anguish you would have felt if the C7 in this YouTube video were yours!

YouTuber Royalty Exotic Cars recently loaned out their Torch Red C7 Corvette coupe to a fellow who then apparently further loaned it out to a friend who neglected to return the vehicle on time.

[VIDEO] 2020 Corvette Goes 0-133 MPH in Wide Open Throttle Sprint Shown in Track Mode

We’ve been enjoying some of the videos coming out of the 2020 Corvette First Drive event from Las Vegas last week and it’s been fun watching the various automotive outlets test the new C8 Corvette. Before I say anything…please, please please don’t be calling your dealers and asking where your Corvette is because CorvetteBlogger says they are shipping on Friday. These guys and girls are busy enough as it is and they will be notified of the impending deliveries and then they will contact the appropriate customers to schedule their delivery appointments.

C7 Corvette Generation Wrap-Up: Missed Opportunities

With C8 production officially underway, we wanted to reminisce about the past six years of Corvette production. The seventh-generation is widely considered the greatest ‘Vette of all time and a fitting pinnacle to the 67-year run in which America’s Sports Car had its engine in front of the driver.

Performance and sales-wise, it is impossible to call the C7 anything but a roaring success.

[VIDEO] Behind the Scenes at COTA with Doug Fehan and the Corvette C8.R

Corvette Racing debuted the No. 63 C8.R this past weekend at the 2020 Lone Star Le Mans in Austin, Texas. The Circuit of the Americas hosted the FIA World Endurance Championship’s six-hour endurance race from 2013 to 2017 with the race being held again this year after a three-year hiatus. Corvette Racing fans from Texas and surrounding states showed up in force to celebrate the return of Corvette Racing drivers Jan Magnussen and Mike “Rocky” Rockenfeller.

Oh ZR1, how quickly we have forgotten you and moved on to the C8. But then comes along a video like this that reminds us that even with an engine upfront, you are still one of our favorites!

All kidding aside, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 is one of our favorite Corvettes of all time particularly because of the things it could do, like shooting down a former Space Shuttle runway at Cape Canaveral at nearly 200 MPH!

More C8 Corvette Wheels Show Up for Sale Online
