Sports Car Insider recently had a chance to ask Corvette Racing’s Program Manager five questions covering both personal and business aspects of his life. One of my favorite questions is what would Doug be doing if he wasn’t involved in racing. Check out Sports Car Insider to see his answers.

Art Van Gives Away 1959 ‘Vette

Art Van recently celebrated their 50th birthday this month at the Warren Art Van Furniture store. Entertainment at this “Michigan Legends Charity Concert” included performances by The Original Vandellas, the Miracles and the Contours. The event raised money for the Gleaners Community Food Bank.

Amongst all this excitement, the night concluded with a 1959 “little red Corvette” give away. With more than 541,000 online entries placed between June and November, Traverse City resident, Tracie Sears, and husband, Todd, were the lucky winners of this fully restored classic car.

"I never dreamed I’d actually win! My husband and I drove down from Traverse City to see the concert, but I never expected to hear my name called as the winner!" exclaimed Tracie.

Not too shabby of a party favor, if you ask us!  Check out the video after the jump.

[PICS] Building the Corvette ZR1’s LS9 V8 Engine

Building the Corvette ZR1's LS9 V8 Engine

Autoblog had the rare opportunity to visit GM’s Performance Build Center in Wixom, Michigan where they worked along side master engine builder Mike Armstrong to assemble an LS9 engine. The PBC is unique to GM’s other engine assembly centers as each engine is assembled by hand from start to finish by a single engine builder as opposed to sending the engine down an assembly line where multiple workers add the same part over and over.
