Back in February we told you about the return of the famous B2K option package for Corvettes. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the very first RPO B2K Corvette, Callaway Cars and Bowling Green will be building just 25 2012 Corvettes. We caught up with car #11 at Bloomington Gold last weekend.

The aforementioned #11 of the 25 Callaway’s was front and center in the Bill Stasek Chevrolet booth at Bloomington Gold. The Cyber Gray monster had just come off of the delivery transporter a couple hours prior and hadn’t even been dealer-prepped yet. All of the 2012 Callaway’s were assembled earlier this year on April 9th.

Car #11 is a coupe with the pricey 4LT option package which includes suede seat inserts with red stitching and the optional (should be mandatory) 6-speed transmission. That equates to an $80,000 price tag BEFORE the Callaway treatment. Tack on another $40k-50k for the steroid injection. The car was so new that the Callaway window sticker wasn’t even on the car yet.

The stock power plant was treated to the SC620 package we adds the supercharger and other go-fast goodies including: special Callaway engineered dampers with performance wheel alignment and a lowered ride height, Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP tires wrapped around Black Chrome Callaway wheels, and Red brake calipers. A carbon fiber body kit adds to the menacing exterior appearance.

One change we noted from the car revealed at the NCM Bash was the trim piece above the side gills. Each car is now marked individually with its specific build number on this carbon fiber widget.

Chevrolet is celebrating the 59th Birthday of the Corvette this week. Here is a video they released today on the Chevrolet Youtube Channel featuring a look back at 60 years of America’s favorite sports car.

The video mashup features a little bit of everything from Corvettes over the last 59 years – from the classic car shows of 50′s and 60′s to the record run by the Corvette ZR1 at the Nurburgring. Along the way we also get a healthy does of previous and current Corvette commercials and Corvettes at the race track.

That’s no rookie behind the wheel, but even an experienced driver like Kelly Bise has trouble keeping a supercharged Corvette Z06′s power under control.

In this video from High Tech Corvette, Bise gets his Z06 up to an incredible 160 mph in just a half-mile run at the Houston Mile before he lets up.

But it wasn’t easy. As you watch the video, you’ll see him slide all over the track on his first attempt to keep more than 700 ft-lbs of torque to the ground. He keeps trying to get this monster of a car under control, though, and he finally masters it. Watch the speedometer climb rapidly on the bottom of your screen!

Did we mention that Bise owns and races the World’s Fastest Twin-Turbo Camaro, so he’s no stranger to the track?

We’re wondering just how fast he could get the Corvette to go if he took the full mile?
