One of the most scenic road course in North America, Lime Rock Park draws impressive crowds when the American Le Mans Series rolls into town. The 1.5-mile, 10-turn circuit keeps the action flowing all race for both drivers and spectators.
Halfway through the Corvette Racing video series, and the team is still undergoing rough obstacles that is challenging their line of work and opportunity for victory at Le Mans.
A promising day of racing began with a commemorative 50th anniversary lap celebrating Corvette’s 50th year at Le Mans. The lap included the first ever Corvette driver and vehicle to race in Le Mans, followed by 50 other Corvettes.
Then, the 3 p.m. Le Mans race began, leaving the two Corvettes in a good position – the top two GT2 class spots by nightfall!
The morning hours, however, brought the first signs of trouble. Corvette #63’s engine had trouble, eliminating it altogether from the race.
The team was left to rely on Corvette #62, but hours later the vehicle tried to make an aggressive pass, forcing it to collide into the side barriers. Though the Corvette team was able to rebuild the entire Corvette body and chassis within 35 MINUTES — it had already been too late!
