[VIDEO] 2012 NCM Bash Seminar - Engineering the Corvette

Corvette’s Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter held this one-hour seminar at the National Corvette Museum’s 2012 Bash called “Engineering the Corvette”. With all the excitement surrounding the up-coming 2014 C7 Corvette, Tadge wanted to take Corvette owners and enthusiasts inside the process. From the halls of GM’s design center to the factory floor in Bowling Green, check out all that goes into revamping an America’s favorite sports car.

While there is no C7 info that came up during the presentation, C6 owners will love this seminar as there are a ton of slides that go back to the development of the 6th generation Corvette which came out in 2005.

It’s sort of amazing to see all the pieces of the puzzle that have to come together to relaunch a car like the Chevy Corvette. What is heartening to know is that Team Corvette gives it there all everyday and I am glad we get the opportunity to talk to and thank the members for their hard work and dedication to the Corvette.

Below is a list of our other 2012 NCM Bash related news and videos and we’ve got a lot more on tap for you here at CorvetteBlogger.com.

Chevy Announces Corvette Incentives Effective May 1, 2012

Chevy Announces Corvette Incentives effective May 1, 2012

Article contributed by Dave Salvatore / Kerbeck Corvette

We just got done reviewing the new incentives that GM has announced and it appears that Corvette is going to ride the wave of a very successful month in sales by keeping all of the current incentives.

The special APR of 0% up to 60 months and 2.9% for 72 months has been extended along with the $1,500 dealer cash.

Also extended is the $2,000 Lease Conquest Rebate for those who currently lease a non-GM vehicle as well as the $3,000 Target In Market Retention Rebate to those on the Manifest List. Just because you weren’t on the manifest list last month does not mean that you aren’t on there now. The new manifest list should be out later today.

Even though the production of 2013 started this week, no incentives have been announced on the 2013 Corvette but we’ll let you know if something comes out later this month.

All of the current rebates are in effect from today, May 1, 2012 through July 2, 2012.

Kerbeck is running low on 2012 Inventory with only a little over 50 left to choose from but you can see our entire inventory on our New Corvette Inventory Page.

Night Race Blue Metallic Displayed at NCM Bash

NCM187

Night Race Blue Metallic is the new color for Corvette for the 2013 Model Year. This rear fender, photographed last week at the National Corvette Museum Bash, provides a close up of this new deep and dark hue. In the shade, with limited light, it almost appeared to be Black.

Notice in the picture below that a Supersonic Blue Metallic Vette is sitting to the right of the Night Race vehicle, showing quite a contrast. And if Carlisle Blue Metallic last year was Day, Night Race Blue Metallic is Night!

It will be interesting to see how popular this color will be. I, for one, like it, but I just can’t forget how much I liked Jetstream Blue Metallic! Which of these four Blues do you like the best, and why?

Corvette Arriving in South Korea

skoreacorvette

South Korea is about to get a big upgrade in automotive performance.  That’s right, the Corvette is now available for sale in the country for the first time.

What’s interesting is that the same Corvette we see in America will have a retail price beginning at the equivalent of $76,300 USD, a 50% increase over the price in the USA.

GM hopes to continue to grow the Chevrolet brand in Asia, and South Korea is the fourth largest market.  Why not include the Corvette, and do so at a premium?

[VIDEO] GM's Akerson Comments on 'Top Secret, Revamped' C7 Corvette

It was in 2009 that GM relauched the Chevy Camaro and it today its one of the most popular cars in its segment.

GM’s Chairman Daniel Akerson was asked in an intervew by Kathleen Walter of Newsmax.tv if GM is planning any other relaunches of popular models. Akerson responded by saying, “Not in the intermediate near term, I don’t think so.” But then the Chairman and CEO added the following about the 2014 C7 Corvette:

“We will come out with a new revamped — I’ve seen it, it’s not been published and it’s under wraps, top secret — the latest Corvette that I think will float a lot of people’s boats. It’s a great looking car and a real step forward.”

Anyone else catch that look in his eyes when he was describing the new C7? It’s good to be chief! Click here for more Akerson excerpts from his interview with Newsmax.tv.

The next generation of the Chevrolet Corvette is expected to debut in January 2013 at the Detroit Auto Show with customers to begin receiving their cars later that year.

[VIDEO] Parking Lot Owner Takes Customer's Corvette on a 61-mile Joyride

This video posted by WFTV in Cocoa, Florida is a Corvette owner’s worst nightmare.

You probably cringe when you have to turn the keys to your pride and joy over to a parking lot attendant when you just go to a restaurant. Imagine if the following happened while you were on a long cruise.

Companies like Premier Parking Spot in Cocoa claim they’ll shuttle you to the cruise ship, then take good care of your car while you’re away.

But WFTV’s Jeff Deal got a tip that Premier owner Jay Nieves was actually using the cars of customers while they were gone.

To test that claim, WFTV rented a 2012 Corvette and sent a husband and wife going on “vacation” to leave the car at Premier.

Just six hours after the couple dropped off the Corvette, the GPS monitoring device installed by the TV station sent WFTV a text message that the car was in motion.

The station captured Nieves and an employee joyriding in the car, peeling out on dirt roads and even taking pictures of the Corvette in front of the Premier owner’s house. They parked it at an Applebee’s, and the GPS showed Nieves even parked it at his home overnight. A couple of days later, he drove all over town on errands, including a stop at Ace Hardware.

Later, he filled it with lumber at his home and even let a dog run around inside the car.

Deal finally confronted Nieves outside the car near the business when it was parked with the top down.

“You’re going to say you weren’t driving the car? Tell me the truth. Be honest with me,” Deal said to Nieves.

“You’re completely wrong,” said Nieves.

GPS records showed the car had been driven 61 miles since being dropped off at Premier!

Maybe the dog did it!

Update
WFTV’s Jeff Deal ran a follow up story regarding Premier Parking and its Corvette-joyriding owner Jay Nieves. On Tuesday, his lot was empty and employees said he informed them he was closing up shop. The landlord said he’s evicting Nieves because Nieves has never shown proof that he has insurance. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said Monday no one from Premier picked up passengers returning from a cruise. After they took a cab to the lot, they found their cars with keys in the doors and no employees in sight. The national company that was taking reservations from Premier Parking Spot said it has severed ties with Nieves and is now sending customers to a different car lot.
