Great news today for our friends in the Great White North as Chevrolet has released the pricing for the 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe and Convertible for Canadian buyers. The new Corvette Stingray Coupe will have a suggested retail price of $52,745 and the Corvette Stingray Convertible will start at $58,245. Pricing excludes a $1,700 destination fee as well as taxes, title and tags.

Chevrolet also provides the pricing for the Z51 Performance Package. A Stingray Coupe with the Z51 package and a 1LT equipment group starts at $56,520 which is $3,775 more than the base Stingray Coupe. A Z51 Coupe with the 3LT package starts at $64,975. Pricing excludes the $1,700 destination fee.

“The 2014 Corvette Stingray delivers a combination of performance, design and technology that very few manufacturers can match, and none can even come close for under $53,000,” said Rob Assimakopoulos, general director of marketing and communications for Chevrolet in Canada. “The new Corvette Stingray perfectly embodies Chevrolet’s mission to deliver more than expected for our customers and signals that we are ready to grow Corvette sales in Canada by providing our customers with a performance value equation that is second to none in the industry.”

Canada is an important export market for the Corvette. The Stingray was officially unveiled at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto just one month after its debut in Detroit on 1.13.13. A month after that, members of the Corvette team took a 2014 Corvette Stingray style buck up to a Corvette show hosted by Canadian Chevy dealer Wilson Niblett.

Canadian dealers are also eligible to receive the new 2014 Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition as one will go to each of the 500 largest Corvette dealers in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Each year at Bloomington Gold there are several special groupings of Corvettes on display. This year we were especially looking forward to seeing the 2014 Corvette Stingray Pace Car from this year’s Indianapolis 500. Little did we know that the Pace Car Registry was assembling a collection of 1 example of every Corvette Pace Car that’s led the field at Indy.

Corvette was first selected to pace the field at Indy in 1978. Nearly 40 years later, Corvette has now led the Greatest Spectacle in Racing a total of 12 times. That’s more than any other vehicle model by a longshot. The other Corvette Pace Cars were: 1986, 1995, 1998, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2012, and 2013.

Since 1978, Pace Car replicas and actual festival cars have been sought out by die hard race fans, collectors and aficionados in the years which GM has produced them. General Motors has produced replica Pace Cars every year except 2004, 2005, 2006, 2012, and 2013.

We’re big fans of the Corvette Pace Cars around here so we were really excited to see the entire collection presented at Bloomington Gold. We don’t ever recall seeing an entire set together in one place before. They even had a group of Corvette Pace Car go karts.

2014 Corvette Stingray to Pace the 97th Indianapolis 500

 

Let’s hope that the driver of this C6 Corvette makes a full recovery after a serious accident Monday morning in Missouri.

Police are still investigating why the 63-year-old driver, of Oran, Mo., rammed into the back of a tractor-trailer at a traffic light on South Kingshighway near the Southern Expressway in Cape Girardeau, Mo., a police spokesman said.

After being extricated from the vehicle by members of the Cape Girardeau Fire Department, the Corvette driver was treated for serious injuries at a local hospital. The truck driver escaped with minor injuries.

Police did not release the names of the accident victims, but did say the truck driver was from Tamms, Ill.
