Someone in Ontario Canada Stole this C5 Corvette Racer
Calling our friends in the Great White North to be on the lookout for this blue C5 Corvette Z06 racer that was stolen from the driveway of the owner’s parents house in Waterloo, Ontario. The Corvette was parked on a trailer and attached to a truck and the thieves took all three last Friday night/Saturday morning.
A plea from the owner Arun@DasilvaMotorsports was posted on the Corvette Forum:
Guys I need your help, on Nov 16 Friday eve or Sat morning somebody stole my C5, truck and trailer right out of my parents driveway. No amount of money can replace this car-I want it back-complete or piece by piece. If anyone has any information please call me at my shop at 519-747-9794 or text my cell at 519-502-0915.
The truck is a brown lifted 2007 F150 Crew Cab with Ontario plates: 115 1TX. The Corvette Z06 is pretty distinctive as well with its big rear racing slicks and a parachute.
If you see the vehicles, call your local police department or pass along the lead to Arun at 519-747-9794.

[PICS] Vossen’s Precision Series Wheels on a Black C7 Corvette Stingray
Remember that black Corvette Stingray that Vossen Wheels showed off down at the Palm Beach International Raceway in South Florida last month? Vossen has just uploaded a new photoshoot with the C7 wearing their soon-to-be-released Vossen Precision Series Wheels in a gloss graphite finish.
The photo setting is startling, taking place on a dark, gloomy day. At an abandoned location, the lifeless trailers with bold, black and white graffiti creates a sinister look for the Corvette. The enormous, dull colored tank train in the background enhances the C7′s glistening black paint and aggressive edges.
The Precision Series’ Gloss Graphite gives the black C7 an exotic look that is yet distinctly American. These wheels featured on the 2014 Corvette Stingray are 20 inches in the front and 21 inches in the rear. Vossen’s wheels are lighter than the factory wheels and are 100% made in the USA.

Corvette Auction Preview: Mecum Anaheim 2013
The Mecum Auctions’ 2013 US tour stops in Anaheim, California this weekend. The 3-day extravaganza gets underway Thursday, November 21st at the Anaheim Convention Center. The action will run through Saturday, November 23rd until all of the nearly 700 cars have rolled across the auction block. Velocity will have 16 hours of live coverage spread across each of the 3 auction days. Click past the jump see a few of the 60+ Corvettes being offered this weekend.
Corvettes representing model years 1956 through 2010 are up for grabs this weekend. Breaking the cars down by generation, we see 11 C1’s, 16 C2’s, 18 C3’s, 7 C4’s, 10 C5’s, and 2 C6’s. The quality of the cars ranges from driver to show car. Suffice to say we won’t be seeing any world record sales this weekend, but we will still be seeing some very nice Corvettes.
Some of our favorites rolling across Mecum’s red carpet include a fantastic red on red 1960 convertible, a Marlboro Maroon 1966 big block coupe, and a dreamy silver on red 1962 fuelie. The restomod crowd will be clamoring for Lot S172, a LS-powered 1961 creation.
Here’s a closer peak at a few other great Corvettes available this weekend in California.
Lot F85 – 1957 Corvette Gasser:
This award winning C1 built in 2003 spent 5 on the car show circuit and was featured in The Rodder’s Journal. The street legal car wears a non-modified original body over boxed front and rear frames. A 427ci, 450hp engine with Hilborn fuel injection peaks through the hood. A 1957 4-speed transmission sends the power out back to a Dana 44 rear end. Mickey Thompson tires wrap American Racing Torque Thrust D’s and add the perfect period to touches to this nostalgic Corvette.
Lot S188 – 1967 Corvette L88 Replica:
Here’s a great way to score a 1967 L88 for less than $3.2 million. This 1967 coupe was built to L88 specs according to the NCRS judging manual. The auction listing states that the aluminum head 427’s carburetor, alternator, and starter are all correct for a 1967 L88. The M22 4 speed comes from a 1969, and the J56 brakes were sourced from a 1968. We’re especially big fans of the white stinger which has been stretched over the full length of the body.
Lot S203 – 2010 Lingenfelter Corvette ZR1:
This black on black 2010 ZR1 has been given a full makeover by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering to the tune of 850hp. In addition to the monster power the C6 features APR carbon fiber bits and pieces as well as Daytona carbon race seats. The jaunt down the quarter mile will last just under 10 seconds.
Mecum’s 2013 Anaheim auction takes place this weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center. Vehicle sales kick off at 1pm local time November 21st then resume at 10am both Friday and Saturday the 22nd and 23rd respectively. Velocity’s live coverage will air Thursday from 3pm – 7pm Pacific time as well as 1pm-7pm (Pacific) on Friday and Saturday. A Webcast is also available on the Mecum website throughout the event.

Motor Press Guild Names Corvette Stingray its 2013 Innovation Vehicle of the Year
Ever since it was introduced to the public in 1953, the Chevrolet Corvette has been a trend-setter.
The seventh-generation Stingray unveiled in January continues that tradition in brilliant fashion, and the automotive press continues to take notice.
The latest: The Motor Press Guild, the largest automotive media association in North America, announced today that the 2014 Corvette Stingray is the winner of its 2013 Innovation Vehicle of the Year Award in the over $29,000 category.
“The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette is an innovation and technology tour de force, resulting in a world class sports car with an unmatched combination of performance and value,” said committee chairman John Dinkel. “The car is race track developed, tuned and tested, yet it is as comfortable, refined and mild-mannered on the street as a Chevy Impala . . . until you mash down on the loud pedal.
Finding this much technology and refinement in a sports car costing just over $50,000 is mind boggling.”
Motor Press Guild announced the award at the LA Auto Show’s MPG Motoring Invitational Presented by Forza Motorsport 5 and Xbox One.
Joining the Corvette in the winner’s circle was the 2013 Mazda Mazda3, which won the under $29,000 division.
A group of 12 finalists was chosen from the nominees by a panel of experts, and then MPG’s journalist and analyst members decided on the winners based on innovation, technology, engineering, safety, environmental impact, price, affordability, and value. Voters were aided with information provided by AutoHarvest about advanced technologies of the nominees.
In the case of the Stingray, those advances include the use of lightweight, high-tech materials, along with “remarkable” fuel economy for a V8 engine and “invigorating” design, according to a release from MPG.
MPG President Aaron Gold congratulated Chevrolet on the IVY award.
“We had an incredible group of contenders,” Gold said, “but both MPG’s IVY panel of experts, which included John Dinkel, BJ Killeen, Rex Parker, Mark Rechtin, Greg Whale, Patrick Hong, and Nate Schroeder and our journalist and analyst members, agreed that these vehicles represent the year’s best in innovation.”

RPI Designs Now Offering C7 Corvette Stingray Lower Painted Bumper Covers
When we posted a photo of a white C7 Corvette Stingray from SEMA on facebook that had the lower black bumper cover painted white, it received a lot of positive comments. We knew that RPI Designs has been working on offerings for the Corvette Stingray and today we heard that they are now selling a lower rear bumper cover in the same exterior body color as your C7 Corvette Stingray.
RPI Designs is using an OEM GM rear bumper cover that is painted to match your Corvette Stingray, using Dupont paints and clear coats. The cost of the painted replacement part is $399.95. (There is a $400 core charge which is refunded if you return your original bumper cover.) It takes up to 10 business days from placing your order until its shipped.
In addition to the nine other 2014 Corvette Stingray colors, RPI Designs is offering the cover in Gloss Black, Hydro Carbon Fiber or Carbon Flash Metallic.
The Stingray is a canvas and it’s going to be interesting to see how people customize their new Corvette to their individual tastes. This is a great looking mod that can really change how the Corvette Stingray looks from the rear – the view that most other drivers will see!

Callaway to Offer a 570 hp version of the Chevy SS Performance Sedan
One of our favorite tuners continues to make news this year. Callaway has already announced the Corvette Aerowagon project is a go and they were the first to supercharge the Gen 5 eco-tech engine found in the new Silverado. Today, Callaway officially announced they will be offering the Callaway SS, a supercharged 570 horsepower version of the Chevy SS performance sedan.
Built by Holden in Australia, the 2014 Chevy SS is the first rear wheel drive sedan to be offered by Chevrolet in 17 years. The performance sedan comes packed with the 6.2 liter LS3 V8 that outputs 415 horsepower and can go 0-60 mph in 5.0 seconds. The Chevy SS has a near 50/50 weight distribution and features a 6-speed automatic transmission with sport-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes and 19″ chrome wheels.
Callaway’s SS standard upgrades include the addition of an Eaton TVS supercharger with an upgraded intake and fuel injectors and a low restriction exhaust system. Tie in the powertrain tune and calibration and the Callaway SS brags a pre-production estimate of 570 hp and 535 lb-ft torque with an improved 0-60 mph of 4.5 seconds. Callaway estimates their upgraded SS sedan will run the quarter mile in 12.4 seconds at 110 mph. Callaway also adds all their badging, floor mats and Callaway SS cover. They also offer some specific optional equipment for the SS as well.
Buying a Callaway SS is similar to that of the Callaway Corvette. You visit your local Callaway dealer (we recommend Mike Furman at Criswell Corvette) and place your order. The Chevy SS is delivered to Callaway’s facility in Old Lyme, CT or Santa Ana, CA where the modifications take place. Callaway offers a 3-year/36,000 mile limited warranty which overlaps GM’s 2-year/24,000 mile warranty. Seeing how their Callaway Corvette GS demonstrator has racked up over 185K miles with a similar set up, you know you’re in good hands.
Callaway hasn’t yet released its final price yet for the Callaway SS but expect it to be north of the base Chevy SS which starts at $43,475 (plus the mandatory $995 delivery fee and the $1,300 gas guzzler tax for a total of $45,770).

The Holden-built Chevrolet SS sedans are landing in North America now, so this is the perfect time to place your Callaway SS order. In fact, Callaway and Holden share a unique connection. In 1998, Holden Special Vehicles hired Callaway to design, develop and assemble a high output version of the 285 bhp LS-series engine for the HSV GTS (Project “C13″). Callaway built 1,500 402 bhp engines for the 2000-2002 models which were installed on the Holden assembly line. The HSV GTS became the fastest production car ever produced in Australia at the time.
Callaway SS sedans are built exclusively at Callaway factories in Old Lyme, Connecticut, and Santa Ana, California. They are sold by a network of Callaway Authorized Chevrolet Dealers across the US and Canada. For more Callaway SS information, contact Callaway Cars at 860 434 9002, or email info@callawaycars.com
