New 2020 Corvette production has paused as the nation hunkers down through the coronavirus pandemic. GM initially said they would close all North American production facilities through March 30th but now there are no firm return dates. Ford is planning to restart key plants as early as April 6th while Toyota has said they will resume production on April 20th.
One of our favorite National Corvette Museum fundraising auctions just went live on eBay.
Earlier this week the NCM launched another opportunity for someone to have their Corvette prominently featured on the cover of America’s Sports Car magazine. ASC is the quarterly publication of the NCM distributed its members.

Now that we’ve been watching the 2020 Corvettes out in the wild being tested and measured by their new owners, we have a new appreciation for the mid-engine Corvette’s ability to hook-up those rear wheels to the pavement.
That ability, of course, is a feature of the 40/60 weight distribution that comes from moving the engine rearward and it now gives C8 Corvette drivers an edge on the dragstrip that they didn’t necessarily have in previous generations.

It’s been a bit since our last Throwback Thursday where we feature vintage photos of Corvettes. I was browsing through some various historic Corvette images on ‘the Google’ and found this great shot of Corvette Chief Engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov.
Our friend Walt Thurn had written a piece for Hot Rod Magazine last fall about the Mark of Zora on the new 2020 Corvette.

Back in 2013, at the end of the C6 era, I mused about the whereabouts of the final production Corvette from each of the first 5 (at that time) Corvette generations. Back then I figured out we knew about all but the last C3. Today we still know roughly where each “last” Corvette is, except for that last C3.
We heard the good news from our friends at NCM Insurance that they can now write agreed-value collector car policies in the State of New York.
Several of us here at CorvetteBlogger have our cars insured with the National Corvette Museum’s in-house insurance agency and it’s by far better insurance at a lower cost than traditional insurance policies.

If you are looking for some mindless entertainment to help pass the time during the Coronavirus lockdown, we got you covered! Searching through our twitters, we found this Red C7 Corvette Z06 working over the competition that includes a Challenger Hellcat and an Audi RS6.
There are a few other runs with the Hellcat taking on a 1980’s Regal and another C7 Corvette Z06 takes on a hot hatchback.

Earlier this year, Genius Garage founder Casey Putsch put out a call for young people interested in vintage racing to buy his 1969 Greenwood-bodied Corvette previously owned by William “Bill” or “Snoopy” Wessell, who won 97 races in SCCA, IMSA, and Trans-Am over a 30-year period, starting in the early 1970s.
For just $5,000.

We always like to think about Corvettes as a canvas that can be customized by their owners into the rolling pieces of artwork. And while a successful customization is always in the eye of the beholder, we love to see the creativity that Corvette owners work on their rides.
