While the 1956 Corvette is considered to be a C1 or first-generation model, it still marked the first reskin of Chevy’s fiberglass sports car, with several mechanical improvements as well.
Though only 3,467 Corvettes left the St. Louis factory that year, that number represented a huge turnaround for Chevy, which had managed to sell just 700 Corvettes in 1955 and was close to pulling the plug.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 4, 2020) – Corvette Racing earned the first victory with the new Chevrolet Corvette C8.R, and the team won the 100th time in IMSA competition Saturday as Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor claimed the IMSA WeatherTech 240 at Daytona.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 4, 2020) – Corvette Racing’s Oliver Gavin claimed pole position in GT Le Mans (GTLM) for tonight’s IMSA WeatherTech 240 sports car race at Daytona International Speedway.
Gavin scored the first pole position for the new mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette C8.R in just its second race – a lap of 1:42.251 (125.338 mph) in the No.

After the longest layoff in team history, Corvette Racing returns to action on Saturday, July 4th at Daytona International Speedway for the ISMA WeatherTech 240 held on the “World Center of Racing’s” infield track.
Corvette Racing’s drivers recently participated in a video conference and the team has been releasing them one-by-one on Twitter.

Fighting their way through a jungle of overgrown plants surrounding a Georgia home, Dennis Collins and his “Rescue Team” recently discovered this one-owner 1959 fuel-injected Corvette in a backyard building.
