[VIDEO] C6 Corvette Caught in Arizona’s Flash Flood

[VIDEO] C6 Corvette Caught in Arizona's Flash Flood on Sunday

A thunderstorm hit the Phoenix, AZ area Sunday morning and dropped up to two inches of rain, causing the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood alert. Unfortunately, that warning came too late for one driver who became a hapless passenger after his silver C6 Corvette was swept off the road and down a wash for more than 100 yards by raging flood waters.

ABC15.com reports the seventy year old owner was spotted near his vehicle after it was washed off the road. The man was rescued by the Phoenix Fire Department and no injuries were reported.

In this video from ABC15.com, you can see just how far the Corvette traveled before it came to rest against the side of a tree in the wash.

Damage to the Corvette appears to be extensive as the rear bumper cover is missing and the Corvette is resting in water that is higher than the wheels wells on the passenger side.

[PIC] Corvette Caught in Tornonto's Flash Flood

After a major thunderstorm swept through Toronto on Monday afternoon and dumped the equivalent of one month’s worth of rain in four hours, reports of flash floods starting pouring in. We caught a tweet from @meltait who is a/the multimedia editor/video producer for the Winnipeg Free Press. She shared a pic of this yellow Corvette submerged under an overpass.

Even sadder than the Corvette under water is wondering if the person standing to the left of the car is the owner. We can only wonder what it would be like to be staring at your pride and enjoy as it sits submerged in the rising flood waters.

Hopefully everything works out for all involved. And who knows, perhaps there is a new C7 in the owner’s future.

[VIDEO] Corvette Battery Maintenance with GM Technician Paul Koerner

[VIDEO] Corvette Battery Maintenance with GM Technician Paul Koerner

If you’ve attended any of the major Corvette shows like Mid America Motorworks’ Corvette FunFest, Corvettes at Carlisle or the Corvette Museum’s annual Bash, you’ve probably seen GM World Class Certified Technician Paul Koerner helping Corvette owners by diagnosing issues they are having with their later model Corvettes.

Paul has recently joined forces with Mid America Motorworks to produce a series of videos to give Corvette owners tips and tricks for keeping their Corvettes running trouble-free. We recently watched the first video on Paul’s Facebook page, The Corvette Mechanic and wanted to share it with our readers.

The subject of Paul’s first video with Mid America has to do with proper battery maintenance as well as troubleshooting issues related to the battery including testing, using a battery charger and a charge maintainer. As the Corvette has a reputation for issues caused by low or improperly maintained batteries, this should be a 101 level class for all Corvette owners.

What’s nice about this collaboration for Corvette owners is that not only does Paul take us through some of the issues that owners might be faced with, Mid America offers a listing of the specific parts that Paul references so owners will know the exact part name and number that may be needed to complete a repair.

Most likely, by watching the video with Paul Koerner, you probably learned something about your Corvette that you didn’t know before. Catch the latest videos as they come out by visiting Paul’s facebook page, The Corvette Mechanic or subscribe to Mid America Motorworks on YouTube.

The Top 11 Corvette Sales of Mecum Bloomington Gold 2013

The Top 11 Corvette Sales of Mecum Bloomington Gold 2013

The Mecum auction is one of the main attractions at Bloomington Gold each year. This year over 100 Corvettes representing all 6 generations arrived in Champaign in search of new homes. If you didn’t find what you were looking for in the Bloomington’s GoldMine, odds are that you could have found it running through the auction tent. Read on to see the top 11 Corvette sales at the 2013 Mecum Bloomington Gold auction.

Like last year, this year’s auction was a one day event. We do miss the old multi-day format, but we also understand that that Mecum’s rapid growth over the last few years probably attracts cars to other sales closer to consignor’s homes.

Thanks to some intermittent rain and a stacked docket, the auction tent was packed all day. Bloomington Gold’s new home on the University of Illinois’ campus lends itself nicely to hosting an auction. There’s plenty of space for the cars, bidders, and consignors to spread out and enjoy the sale.

The top seller was a red 1967 Bloomington Benchmark coupe that traded hands at $100,000. Second place went to a Marina Blue 1967 427/390 roadster at $94,000. A yellow 1965 396/425 convertible claimed the final podium spot when it hammered sold at $88,000. In all, the Top 11 sales at Mecum Bloomington Gold added up to $868,500. The seller fees go on top of that number. The average price of the cars in the top 11 was $78,955. Eight C2’s occupied the list along with 2 C1’s and a lone C6.

Some of the notable no sales included a red 1967 427/400 A/C convertible at $225,000, the Gus Grissom 1967 convertible at $160,000, and an unrestored 1967 convertible at $125,000.

Below are the top 11 Corvette sales from the 2013 Mecum Bloomington Gold auction as well as a gallery of photos from the event.
