After years of tracking C8 Corvette prototypes, sharing spy photos, sitting in the show cars at various events, and living vicariously through the efforts of the Corvette team as they track-tested the car on the Nurburgring, my opportunity to drive the all-new the new mid-engine Corvette finally arrived this week.
I was thinking that it would be tough to be objective about testing this car, and I was somewhat concerned if the car would live up to the hype.

The Mid-Engine Corvette entered Road & Track’s 2020 Performance Car of the Year competition to do battle with ten of the year’s hottest cars including the new 992 generation Porsche 911, Lamborghini Huracan EVO, McLaren 600LT Spider, Nissan GT-R Nismo, BMW M2 Competition, and “A90” Toyota Supra.

Wednesday was supposed to be the day that all the reviews dropped for the 2020 Corvette Stingray but someone jumped early yesterday and so Chevrolet told everyone else to go ahead and post. The good news is that for the most part, the reviews for the new mid-engine Corvette have been very good indeed!

“Simply Extraordinary!”, says the “One Take” auto reviewer after wrapping up his first track session ever with the car at Thunderhill Raceway in California.
Matt was able to get some seat time in the 2020 Corvette Stingray Z51 Coupe as part of Road & Track’s testing for their Performance Car of the Year Award.

Motor Trend is first out of the gate with their review of the 2020 Corvette Stingray and you could probably say that the members of the Corvette Team are smiling right now.
That’s what happens when you under-promise and over-deliver.
Chevrolet told the world that its new mid-engine Corvette equipped with the Z51 package can go 0-60 MPH in under 3.0 seconds.
