It was just a couple of weeks ago that we showed the video from Vengeance Racing in which they claimed to have the first C7 Corvette Stingray on the planet with 1,000 hp. Now we got another Stingray to show that makes even more power thanks to guys at Late Model Racecraft.
According to LMR, they used a LMR 416ci block with a custom grind camshaft, LMR CNC cylinder heads and a Vortech YSI blower along with “a small shot of N2O” to achieve 1,121 rwhp and 992 lb-ft of torque. They are saying that with more time to test and tune, this Stingray will make over 1,000 rwhp on boost alone.
Currently with boost only, the car makes 990 rwhp and 942 lb-ft torque.
The owner of modified Corvette Stingray describes the car’s new power:
Just got my C7 back from LMR this morning. All I can say is WOW!!!! This thing is a total BEAST!!! The torque is Crazy and the internet audio doesn’t begin to do justice to the roar this thing spits out when you hit the gas! I didn’t want to drive home.
You can check out the video here and then head over to the Corvette Forum to see the dyno sheet:
You already know about the longstanding complaints regarding the seats in the previous generation Corvette and that new seats were one of the priorities that GM set out to rectify in the new C7 Corvette. Automotive journalists and new owners will most likely agree that the Stingray’s new seats are the best that have ever been put into America’s favorite sports car.
Bloomberg’s Matt Miller went out Detroit where he met with C7 seat designer Shawn Meagher who not only showed him how the new seats were designed but also took him out to Milford’s Proving Grounds for some fun on Black Lake to demonstrate how much more supportive the new seats are.
Meagher tells the Bloomberg reporter that “the important thing about a seat, especially in a car like this, its your main communication with the road. You’re feeling everything that’s going on. That’s what’s communicating what the car is doing. That’s going to help you get the most out of the car.”
Meager explains how they assembled a “Drive Team” consisting of GM employees representing all different kinds of shapes and sizes to help with the new seat’s design. These members then sat in a special seat lab where a digital pressure mapping system measured 4600 data points of their backs and butts. GM then used this data to create a seat optimized for comfort and support.
Back in the studio, he discussed the new seats on Bloomberg Television’s In The Loop.
With the 12 Hours of Sebring approaching this Saturday, Chevrolet published this video today featuring a look at Corvette Racing’s C7.R and the Daytona Prototypes Corvettes fared at the Rolex 24 in Daytona.
Positive progress was made in the Rolex 24 for Corvette Racing as the C7.R made its racing debut. However, the race results were mixed with the number 4 C7.R finishing 5th in GTLM while the number 3 C7.R was beset with cooling issues and finished 10th in class.
It was a different story for the prototypes. The Corvette DP’s swept the podium led by Action Express and claimed the top four positions for Chevrolet.
Check out the video below and prepare yourselves for the 12 Hours of Sebring this weekend.
From our Corvette Image Tumblr, we came across this Corvette Z06 chasing a rider on a Triumph motorcycle. The Corvette Z06 is an actual police car used by the Wake County Sheriffs office in North Carolina.
