Corvette Satisfaction – No Surprise

It’s always fun to see owner satisfaction reports, especially from an industry leader like Consumer Reports.  This year’s survey is in and low and behold, we have something to celebrate.

After 380,000 car owners were surveyed by Consumer Report’s Owner Satisfaction survey, Corvette ended up at the top… top #3 to be exact.

1. Dodge Challenger
2. Ford Fusion Hybrid
3. Chevrolet Corvette
4. Porsche 911
5. Toyota Prius
6. Acura TL

The survey included a question that 80% of car owners had to answer “definitely yes”. The question asked, “Considering all factors (price, performance, reliability, comfort, enjoyment, etc.), would you get this car if you had it to do all over again?”

Definitely yes.

Corvette has continued to make it to the top of this list ever since 2005. Keep it up Corvette!

What Color Do You Prefer?

White.
Black.
Silver.

These three colors, confirmed by DuPont, are the most popular color choices consumers choose for their cars – both nationwide and worldwide. DuPont performs this annual Color Popularity Report, and this year marked the first year for the data to come from outside U.S. borders.

So, regardless of all the nifty colors out there, the majority of the world’s population prefers the gray-scale to the rainbow-scale.

Is DuPont accurate in their reporting? What’s your favorite car color? Blog with us.

GM to Lay off 75 at the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green

Another 75 workers at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant will be laid off as GM continues to slow production of its iconic sports car amid the current economic slowdown. To deal with slower demand, plant officials are also cutting back hourly production from 11 to 8 Corvettes. Last year, the plant employed 1,100 works and produced Corvettes at a clip of 18.5 cars per hour. It’s been a tough year for the Corvette plant. In addition to the slowdowns and layoffs, temporary shutdowns have closed plant for a total of 26 weeks.

Corvette Recall Forthcoming

GM has alerted dealers today of an upcoming safety recall for Corvette owners.  Here are the details of what vehicles are involved and what you can expect.

The recall will include certain 2005-2007 Corvettes equipped with a removable roof and 2006-2007 Corvette Z06’s.  This includes some 22,000 Corvettes!

Some of these vehicles have a condition in which the adhesive between the roof panel and the frame may separate.  If there is a partial separation, the occupant may notice one or more symptoms, such as a snapping noise when driving over bumps, wind noise, poor roof panel fit, roof panel movement/bounce when a door or hatch is closed, or a water leak in the headliner.  If there is a complete separation, the roof panel may detach from the vehicle.  If this were to occur while the vehicle was being driven, it could strike a following vehicle and cause injury and/or property damage.

To correct the problem, dealers will install a newly designed roof panel.  Right now GM is waiting on suppliers to obtain the required parts and when a sufficent number has been obtained, customer notification will begin.

Dealers do not know which specific vehicles are involved, nor can they perform the recall before the recall has been officially launched.

As always, any safety recall is done free of charge for the customer.  Stay tuned to CorvetteBlog for updated information when we have it.
