Kentucky’s Official State Car… Corvette?

Bowling Green, Kentucky not only houses the nation’s only Corvette Assembly Plant that manufactures over 150 Corvettes a day, but is also home to the National Corvette Museum! The town is infamous for Corvettes. Period.

With such a rich Corvette history – why not pass a bill that names the Corvette as Kentucky’s official state car?

Republican State Rep. C.B. Embry Jr. has been trying to do just that for years.

And, unfortunately, this bill was brought in front of other legislative committee leaders and was just recently killed.

Do you think declining this bill sends the wrong message to General Motors? Does Kentucky deserve to have Corvette as their state’s official car?

Wil Cooksey Receiving Prestigious Lee Iacocca Award

In support of the true American tradition, the Lee Iacocca Award honors some of the worlds most committed classic-car (and Corvette) enthusiasts.

Now in it’s fourth year, the award was given to a true Corvette enthusiast. Wil Cooksey is not only a former manager of the Corvette Assembly Plant, but is also a member on the Board of Directors for the National Corvette Museum.

"Wil is simply an incredible individual. Whether in the car business, on the boards of non-profit community organizations or on the racetrack he never gives less than his all out best. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a car nut from head to toe, either," said Mike Callihan, president of the Gunnison Car Club.

The award will be presented to Cooksey in Gunnison, Colorado on August 21, 2010. Be sure to check out this site for more event details and pictures come late August.
