[VIDEO] The 2014 Corvette Stingrays Leave the National Corvette Museum

At the conclusion of the National Corvette Museum’s annual Bash event, the Lagnua Blue Corvette Stingray Coupe and the Night Race Blue Convertible were taken outside and loaded onto an auto transporter for destinations unknown. We were still at the NCM just after 5pm on Saturday when we noticed the staff was preparing to move the Corvettes. Lucky for us, we caught the whole event on video.

The first Stingray to be moved outside was the Laguna Blue Coupe. Bob Bubnis, the editor of the NCM’s America’s Sports Car magazine had the honor of driving the new Corvette out the door. He took it around the corner and parked it. The Reliant Auto Transport driver then loaded the Stingray onto the trailer’s top level.

Then it was the Corvette Stingray Convertible’s turn. The Night Race Blue Corvette was driven out of the building by Adam Boca of the NCM Insurance Agency. Not only do we witness the start up and exhaust note, but we also captured the top going up as well.

Both Bob and Adam gave CorvetteBlogger.com a shout out and its much appreciated. But tonight it was you guys living the dream. Funny how America’s Sports Car can turn grown men into boys again. Not only from these newly crowned celebrity drivers who both checked off the boxes on their bucket lists, but the dozen or so of us standing in the rain to watch a car get loaded onto a tractor-trailer.

Check out the video of the 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe and Convertible leaving the National Corvette Museum’s Bash.

If you watched the whole video, you would have noticed the transporter also contained a Torch Red 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe and the Cadillac ELR extended range vehicle. The Torch Red Corvette looked to be the show car from the Detroit Auto Show, but we were unable to verify the VIN. We did note that it had the Carbon Fiber roof panel, unlike the Torch Red Coupe we found Friday parked over at the Corvette Assembly Plant.

The Corvette Museum’s Annual Bash was in full swing on Friday and the biggest crowds were always around the 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe and Convertible on display in the conference room.

But that didn’t mean there weren’t any other new Stingrays in the vicinity. This is Vette City after all. Hunting down the new model cars at the factory or around town is an annual pastime but this year it was made much easier as we got directions to where we could find them from Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter.

We weren’t the only ones on the secret though.

During the Bash’s Friday Stingray seminar, Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter told the standing room only crowd that the factory has started building C7 Corvettes for testing, but because they are test vehicles, they cannot be displayed at the Corvette Museum.

He then said that if you were to drive across the street to the Corvette factory, that in Lot E you would see a row of new Corvettes. Again, that’s Lot E he repeated to the crowd.

So after closing time, we headed out to the museum and as we rounded the corner we could see several new cars behind the chain link fence. Several other enthusiasts were already there taking photos.

It was a fantastic site to see five Corvette Stingray Coupes glistening in the light rain. Just about that time, the sprinkling stopped and we we able to take our fill of photos and a video.

Five different colors were on the cars: Blade Silver, Laguna Blue, Black, Crystal Red and Torch Red. All were Coupes with painted tops and all the cars but the Torch Red car were equipped with the Z51 package.

FYI, An easy way to identify the base car without Z51 is the small spoiler on the rear and the non-slotted brake rotors.

About the time I wrapped up, a security guard showed up and politely asked us to leave, citing a liability issue. We mentioned that the Chief Engineer “invited” us to see the cars and he replied, “yes, we heard about that.”

Grabbing our gear, we headed back to the car and as we were leaving, several more Corvette owners were pulling in.

That guard was going to be in for a long evening!

Corvette’s 60th Birthday Bash Blows into the Motor City June 30

60th birthday bash detroit

America’s iconic sportscar has enjoyed a wonderful history over the past six decades. To commemorate those 60 years, all Corvette owners are invited to celebrate the car’s 60th Birthday Bash at GM World Headquarters in Detroit MI, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday, June 30.

The event will take place at GM’s Renaissance Center, in the GM employee parking lot along the Detroit River.

A special caravan will arrive from Flint, MI, birthplace of the Corvette. Flint-area Corvette clubs are currently trying to find a Corvette from every model year to participate in the caravan.

Event activities include food booths, a deejay, a 50/50 raffle benefitting the 2014 Michigan Caravan, a car cruise through beautiful Belle Isle on the Detroit River (where the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will have taken place a few weeks earlier), sales of Corvette paraphernalia (2014 National Caravan window clings, flags, etc.) and more.

A special tent can be set up for any club that would like to promote its club and events.

The Birthday Bash is made possible by various organizations, including the MotorCities National Heritage Area and the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau.

For more information on the Birthday Bash this June or the 2014 Michigan Caravan, email michcaravan2014@aol.com or call (586) 876-6923. For more information on the 2014 National Corvette Caravan, click here.

Larry Courtney, Michigan captain of the National Corvette Caravan, says that interested attendees can also receive up-to-date route information for the 2014 National Corvette Caravan as well as details on how to sign up for it. The 5th National Corvette Caravan will take place the last week of August 2014. Regional caravans will form and join other caravans as they travel across the United States to gather in Bowling Green, KY, for four days of festivities at the National Corvette Museum.
