[VIDEO] Vossen Wheels Shows Off New CVT Wheels on the 2014 Corvette Stingray

Many of the first customers to receive the 2014 Corvette Stingray are actually aftermarket businesses that will be using the new 7th generation sports car to test and showcase their products.

We just saw this video from Vossen Wheels and figured that will all the “FIRST” videos being made, this is probably the “FIRST” C7 Corvette to have aftermarket wheels. While we can’t back up that claim on paper, we can certainly tell you to hit the play button after the jump to see more.

It’s only prudent for wheel makers to get into the C7 aftermarket as quickly as possible. After all, wheels are one the first things that new Corvette buyers spend their aftermarket dollars on. And now that Corvettes are selling at a pace not seen since last decade, there will be a lot more new Corvette buyers to go around.

The video that Vossen has put together shows the Black C7 Stingray wearing the company’s newest monoblock CVT staggered directional one-piece cast rims. Those rims will me made in 20 inch and 22 inch diameters.

CarScoops has this from an earlier press release detailing Vossen’s CVT Wheels:

“The [CVT] wheels on the driver’s side and passenger side of the vehicle twist towards the same direction, whether it’s a square or staggered fitment.”

Here’s the videos, the first showing the Stingray and the second is a promotional video for the new CVT wheels:

[VIDEO] Pfadt Planning P58 Edition Corvette Stingray

[VIDEO] Pfadt Planning P58 Edition Corvette Stingray

Like some other well-known tuners and performance shops, Pfadt Race Engineering has been itching to get their hands on the new 2014 Corvette Stingray. Pfadt has big plans for the C7 Stingray with a new line of parts and a performance upgrade package they’re calling the Pfadt P58. The package is expected to boost the LT1 from 460 hp to approximately 580 hp.

But before all that can move forward, they first needed to pick up the car.

The Stingray was ordered through Rick Conti at Coughlin Chevrolet. Although it was supposed to be shipped to Utah, anticipation got the best of new owners Aaron and Robbin Pfadt. So last week they bought some plane tickets, flew to Ohio and then drove the Corvette back over the weekend.

The great thing about driving it the 1,800 miles or so back to Utah was that it insured the Corvette had the recommended break-in of reaching 1500 miles before we started seeing the kinds of videos that tuners are want to put out. Like this baseline dyno test that Pfadt did once they got the Stingray back home:

Pfadt’s Corvette Stingray is a bone-stock seven speed manual with the Z51 Performance package. The C7 dynoed at 411 hp and 410 ft-lbs torque to the rear wheels.

The Pfadt P58 Package includes a cold air intake, Try-Y headers, camshaft and an engine calibration to 580 hp. Other options are wheels and brakes, aero upgrades (hood, splitter & rocker panels), a coilover suspension package and tuned exhaust.

In addition to the P58 package, Pfadt will be offer many of the components individually. They told us their C7 headers will begin shipping around the end of next week.

[VIDEO] CorvetteBlogger Talks with Corvette Plant Manager Dave Tatman

[VIDEO] CorvetteBlogger Talks with Corvette Plant Manager Dave Tatman

Earlier this week we had the privilege to tour the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, KY to see how the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray is made. While we were there, we spoke with plant manager Dave Tatman about the changes to the plant, C7 production, quality assessments and resumption of public tours which begin on October 14th.

Dave first talks about the transformation inside the plant in preparing to build the new Corvette. He told us that that in many cases, tooling was left over from previous generations, going all the way back to the C4 Corvette. So they cleaned that all up and in the process, the workers inside the plant took “ownership” of the facility.

We also spent a few minutes about the quality assessment checks the new Corvettes are undergoing once complete. We ask him about Nashville and Corvettes being sent there for additional quality checks. He also talks about the shipping process and Dave again confirms that Corvettes will be shipped by railway in the near future.

Currently, the plant is only building Corvette Stingray Coupes for US and Canadian customers, but the facility will soon start building Coupes for export to Europe, the Middle East and Mexico. Dave talks about ramping up to those levels and confirms that they are even building Convertibles for the Captured Test Fleet.

One of our favorite Dave Tatman sayings is “We don’t just build cars in Bowing Green, we build dreams”. After a long delay in actually producing cars from the C6 to the C7, Dave says it feels great to finally being back to producing cars again. We wholeheartedly agree!

[VIDEO] First C7 Corvette Non-Z51 Seven-Speed Manual Quarter Mile Run

[VIDEO] First C7 Corvette Non-Z51 Seven-Speed Manual Quarter Mile Run

On Sunday, Hennessey Performance ran a 2014 Corvette Stingray equipped with the Z51 package and the 6-speed auto in the quarter mile. Today, Jalopnik brings us what they are calling the first customer-owned three-pedal quarter mile. More significant we believe is that it’s the first quarter mile run by a non-Z51 C7 Corvette with a 7-speed manual transmission.

RoadTestTV.com says the Corvette is owned by Lashway Motorsports out of Pampano Beach, FL. We’ve featured them before when they covered a Z06 in Matte Blue vinyl wrap.

This is an interesting video as we don’t believe Chevy has released performance estimates for the non-Z51 Corvette Stingray. With the Z51 Performance package and 7-speed manual, the new Corvette Stingray does the quarter mile in 12.0 seconds at 119 mph. Hennessey’s test last week with the Z51 6-Speed auto ran 12.2 at 114.9 mph. So how does this bone stock Corvette 7-speed do? With 455 hp and 460 ft-lbs of torque, watch this Stingray grip and go!

With little wheel slip, the Corvette rocketed down the strip, crossing the quarter mile mark in 12.47 seconds at 116.2 mph. Not to shabby for a base-equipped C7 Stingray. Seriously, if you have to reach for a Corvette and can only afford the $51,995 for the base 1LT Non-Z51 model, you’re still getting quite a bang for the buck.

We’re sure this isn’t the last we’ve seen of this Arctic White Corvette Stingray from Lashway Motorsports. And we can also bet we’ll be waiting for whatever combination of FIRST videos featuring a combination of Corvette Stingrays equipped or not equipped with the Z51 Auto/Manual NPP/Stock Exhaust.

[VIDEO] Man Surprises Girlfriend with a C7 Corvette Stingray

[VIDEO] Man Surprises Girlfriend with a C7 Corvette Stingray

Apparently, not everyone gets as excited about getting a new Stingray as we do.

A guy tells us in this Youtube video that he’s going to surprise his girlfriend with a new black on black on black 2014 Corvette Stingray that has just arrived at Peters Chevrolet in Longview, Texas and is being checked out by the crew there to make sure all the nuts and bolts are right on the car.

After he goes to her office and calls her on the phone, the poor fellow has to practically beg her to come out of the office and see the car, and based on her reaction, we’re not sure if she even realizes it’s her car. Her emotion is about as excited as if he had just brought her a vanilla bean frappuccino from Starbucks!

She doesn’t seem to care that she is probably among the first few hundred ordinary folks to drive the new C7.

This is one video that you definitely won’t see in the Chevy marketing folder. For what we consider an outstanding gift, the poor guy does get a hug and a kiss after she gets done with her quick drive around the parking lot.

But we have a feeling he might have gotten more excitement if he had taken her on a trip to Paris or New York City, and it would have been a lot cheaper than the $70,000 he shelled out for this 3LT Z51 Stingray!

But at least she is honest. “I know somebody more excited than I am,” she tells him as they climb out of the car.

Maybe he should have just bought her a Spark and kept the Corvette for himself.

Via CorvetteVideos.TV

A rare 1957 Corvette featuring the 283/283 hp (RPO 579E) fuel injection sold for $290,000 at Mecum’s 2013 Dallas Auction.

This Onyx Black roadster is one of only 43 “airbox” Corvettes produced in 1957 which offered a new fuel injection system helping the 283 Cubic inch engine attain the mythical “one-horsepower-per-cubic-inch” threshold for the first time.

The ’57 Airbox Corvette was part of the Buddy Herin collection which also saw the record-breaking $3.2 million sale of the 1967 L88 Corvette Sting Ray at the same auction.

Hennessey builds some of the meanest cars under the sun and now they’ve gotten their hands on the new C7. Uh oh. It probably won’t be too long before it has seven trillion (or maybe just a thousand) horsepower. But below is video of a quarter-mile run with the C7 as it was delivered to them – bone stock.

What? Oh, you want to know the time? It runs down the 1320 feet in 12.2373 seconds with a trap speed of 114.88 mph and seems very drama free. Did I mention this is a stock C7 automatic? Wow. Enjoy the video.

Other than the official Chevy teaser video we saw earlier this year, we haven’t really been able to get inside the Bowling Green Assembly Plant to see how the new C7 Corvettes are assembled until now. Here’s a video that features six minutes of hot assembly line action featuring the 2014 Corvette Stingray.

Following the $131 million investment that GM has made to produce the C7 Corvettes, just about everything inside the assembly plant was changed, painted or cleaned. Plant Manager Dave Tatman likes to say “they don’t just build cars at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant, they build dreams”.

CorvetteBlogger will be in Bowling Green this Wednesday for a tour of the upgraded facility so stay tuned as we’re sure a lot of outlets will be focusing on the C7′s build process this week.
