These replacement fluid couplings allow the engine to spin independently of the transmission in automatic vehicles, enabling the engine to keep running when the car is stopped, and facilitating smooth power transfer. The street-strip torque converters are available in a variety of stall speed ratings, bolt circles, input spline quantities, and other options. (Yank does not recommend the use of NOS on this series of converters. The reason for this is the shift extension will get too high.
